i spent 1000-1500 range and was very happy on a 10 mile one way fairly flat commute. aventon pace 500. rear hub motor, no front shocks. if i got a do-over, i would have spent more and got a mid-drive for a more natural pedal feeling and got front shocks.

I've got 2,500 miles and 4 years out of my rear-hub motor on my Aventon Pace 500, no idea what motor is on it but seems to work like the first day I got it. battery is definitely showing a bit of signs of aging, but motor sounds like new.

any chance it came to you with a dead battery and just needs a charge for the first start up? ive had electronics that get to me fully depleted and just need a quick charge to fire up.

went to their website and looks to have a 2 year warranty, not sure if you bought it from a dealer or direct online but would reach out asap to whoever sold it to you, best of luck! never fun to have problems with a new bike (or any product for that matter)

I've definitely slowed down on my e-bike the past few years. When I get around walkers/joggers I go even slower. I've seen people on bike paths just randomly cut across in front of me multiple times for no reason at all. And most folks have in airpods so a bell or polite on your left doesn't do...

just took my 3 year old e-bike in to the LBS for a basic tune-up for the first time since owning it! they put a new chain on, adjusted the brakes which was the primary reason for the visit, and a few other minor things, out the door for like $130 and it rides like new. couldn't be happier!

agreed, the one time i tried walk mode just to try it out it would be better described as jog mode. not sure why i would ever use it. after 3 years of ownership i'm yet to encounter a time i would use it. this is on an aventon pace 500 (i think it's the original version at this point)
