That's one good question, out of several that come to mind. For what it's worth, on further reflection, I think the letter was written in the late sixties, because for some reason I remember where I living when I read it. And not that it matters but the letter was written by a woman.

I understand. But I was also a pedestrian a good bit of the time. I get what you're saying, but I didn't notice a problem. Just normal due diligence when crossing streets, etc., for me. I didn't get into all parts of the city though.

I rode around Paris a good bit for a few days a year ago, on Lime rental bikes and was quite comfortable with the bike lanes and traffic. For me, it was a good experience and maybe the best way to get around. No parking or theft worries with rental bikes.
