    Signs of fall/winter.

It's this time of year, when I'm forced to put the bike away for the season, that I always contemplate moving to a warmer climate. Maybe this year, the wife and I could spend Jan. & Feb. in Florida and take the bikes with us.

    Signs of fall/winter.

I don't think spiked tires would work as well on wet leaves as they do on ice. Wet leaves are often "layered" and difficult for the studs to penetrate down to a solid surface. Another factor is, leaves can obscure root heaves or potholes in the trail surface and sometimes cause loss of control...

    Signs of fall/winter.

The problems I have with heavy gloves are shifting and using touch screens. They are often too bulky to use the shift mechanism effectively and are too thick to activate icons on a touch screen. I solved the shifting issue by converting to an electronic paddle shifter: I can use a touch...

    Signs of fall/winter.

I drove from PA down to NJ to deliver my brothers bike this weekend. He's had it stored in my barn since his hip gave out 8 years ago. He finally had the hip replaced and wants to start riding again. I took my bike along with the idea of riding the Henry Hudson Trail near where he lives. 41...

    WW 52V Battery Issue

I'm not sure where you are located, but here are a few European companies that to this work: Prominent examples of European companies that rebuild or recondition e-bike batteries include: Heskon Battery Service Experts (Netherlands): A large, specialized repair company that is a certified...

    WW 52V Battery Issue

If you have the original battery, you could look for a place that will repack the case with fresh cells. Not sure about Europe but there are many places here in the US that will do this kind of battery rehab work.

    anyone get leg cramps?

I frequently get nighttime leg cramps after a extended ride. For me anyway, it appears to be a potassium deficiency. I can alleviate the cramps considerably if I stay hydrated and snack on a banana sometime during the ride.

True, but the regulations they force to be enacted will remain.

    CBS Evening News

The sad part is, the idiots like him will just ignore the regulations they cause to be enacted, leaving the rest of us to deal with them.

    Ammo can storage

Welcome to the forum and yes, an e-bike lithium battery fire on a concrete floor WILL spread upward to a 7' ceiling! Luckily, such fires are rare if you buy quality batteries and use proper charging procedures. Specifically, do not charge them while unattended. Ammo cans are a deterrent at...

    Sena Bikom questions

I have the older Sena X1 helmets and with those, you can't listen to music while communicating. I'm not sure about the newer R1 or M1 helmets though. Even though they work well for communicating, I don't care much for the Sena helmets, and much prefer to use my Giro MIPS rated helmet instead...

    CBS Evening News

When I last rode the the Shinning Sea Trail on the Cape in 2021, There were NO E-BIKE signs posted at the north trailhead off Depot Rd in Falmouth. There were none posted at the South trailhead near the ferry terminal though. Looks like things have changed since then.

    CBS Evening News

That's good to know. When I last rode the Cape Cod Canal, there were signs posted that said "NO E-BIKES". I'm glad to hear they have loosened up a bit on the regs.

    Road Dust Problem

It would be best to get a chain wear gauge and proactively replace the chain when it reaches 75%. There are many cheaper gauges on the market but I prefer this one from Park Tool : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OZFILW?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details

    CBS Evening News

I was pleased to see a rebuttal of that CBS e-bike story on our local TV station. In an interview, a local bike shop owner outlined the problem in a few short words. Basically, he said what we here already know. Conventional bikes can do just as much damage in an accident as an e-bike. It isn't...

    The transition

I don't much care where the products I buy originate. I do care about supply chain disruptions making it difficult to get these products because they are all made overseas. What happens when war, tariffs, weather, etc disrupt the worldwide flow of goods & materials? I think it critical that we...

Source for Magura Motor Cutout Switch

I do the same thing. It saves having to reset the cruise control every time you slow or stop. The only problem with doing this is, the bike could take off unexpectedly when you take your hands off the brake levers. As a safety measure, I have the cruise control mounted so it can be turned off...
