    World War III

It's usually ok because many of the announcements (and the corresponding news articles) are actually published multiple days after the actual movement of the materials. The shipments also appear to be very spread out time and location wise and many tend to not look to be military in content...

Of course they can "target" these shipments by heavy truck or train ... they've already struck a number of stationary military targets in western Ukraine with precision weapons (air launched cruise missiles or land based ballistic missiles). What they don't seem to have is the real time...

    World War III

Careful, the simplistic statement about a suspected "chemical" attack can have a lot of nuance in the reality of what happened. There's still a lot to be learned about the incident but it's definitely different than the commonly thought about chemical weapon attacks on civilians in Syria, Iraq...

    World War III

Lots of pics with tractors pulling tanks and such but I liked the simplicity of this image. Plus if I'm not mistaken that may actually be a DIY ebike. Interesting juxtaposition of a simple ebike riding past the burnt out symbol of oppression ... and perhaps the idea of who would ultimately...

    World War III

It's interesting (especially considering the topic of this thread) that some of the most relaxing big open spaces with great places to ride are ex or rehabilitated military spaces. When I lived in Colorado I used to enjoy a ride at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal (which used to house some seriously...

I rode through this it was crazy.

What did you wear? It looks that the most fun comes from the more animal/alien like you appear.

    Day6 delivered!

I think that with regen from that larger motor (and good tires) that you'll find very little pressure on the existing rim/coaster braking setup. An IGH and disc brakes will be a big upgrade. I wonder with some experience if you'll need the discs (well maybe if you were a speed demon ... but I'm...

    Day6 delivered!

Now that you've had a good look at the bike any ideas about the specific setup for the torque arms? How is the braking setup on the trike?

    Day6 delivered!

Tom, What are you going to do about the PAS setup? I don't know how you could get the 24p to work, but with a little effort I'll bet the split 12p could be fitted. It's been ages since I worked on a solid crank setup like that ... is the BB shell really a different diameter/threading than the...

This year's grain crops are effectively gone. High percentages are unplanted, or now untended/maintained, and those that do mature can't be sold in bulk as there's no way to move large grain shipments out of Ukraine since all the sea ports in the south are occupied or blockaded ... and the black...

NYT has multiple levels of a "paywall". The latest articles are behind the strongest versions, but articles do become easier to access over time. It's not hard to read even those latest versions, there are lots of different paths to do this. In my case I load the article in the incognito part of...

With respect to Mark Twain ... What was a popular statement about incrementally worse lies - "Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is now better described as "Lies, damned lies, and Russian government statements".

World wide Covid lockdowns, general slowdowns to various economies, badly bottlenecked transportation services and the lack of shipping containers = big increase in costs, now there's big fuel costs...

    Grin Frankenrunner

Yup, It's on their website ... and PhaseRunners have been out of stock for a while. Grin's home page from Oct 2021 ... "Due to all the supply issues with semiconductors it seems that the best case is mid 2022 before we'll be able to produce our Phaserunner units again. "

    Grin Frankenrunner

The FrankenRunners appear to be temporary products combining the off the shelf ASI controller with the connectivity from the BaseRunner/PhaseRunner controllers since Grin can't produce new PhaseRunners for a while. These new controllers also incorporate the capabilities to support other displays...

My DIY builds: GMAC, BBSHD, 9C RH212, CYC Photon, ToSeven DM01, Grin All Axle

I seem to remember that happening a lot in March/April on the front range. I thought mother nature had it in for me ... but it might have just been my level of fitness after sitting on my butt most of Jan/Feb. (life before running studded winter tires on the road) 😁

Input for long range commuter build?

Man that's a serious setup, and nothing subtle about that 18 fet encyclopedia sized controller. The phase wiring will probably look like something from a 220v dryer. Now where to connect the flux capacitor?

Input for long range commuter build?

The formula for that is pretty simple ... Standard wind 6T geared hub motor, 52v, larger diameter wheels (650 or 700c) and bike gearing that will let you keep the cadence in a reasonable range (so something in the 50/52 x 11-18 range at the high end).
