I'd install a larger rotor and have better braking and better access to the adjustment screw instead of hacking things. Probably less work as well... but that's just me 🙃

Carrying photography gear on a ride

Ahhh OK. Even the MTX don't have the best zippers. I'd never leave my camera or anything else valuable on the bike unattended so I'm not finding much value in having a lock. Then there's the rational that I'd rather they take the bag then damage the rack prying it off. But who knows what kinda...

Carrying photography gear on a ride

I'd invest in a good pair of glasses before buying anymore lenses as the two pics you posted are far from anything I'd be proud of. Then I'd take a hammer to that Pentax setup... but that's just me 🙃

Carrying photography gear on a ride

What do you see as the advantage of the MIK. Not seeing one in person, that lock looks like it can be defeated with an ice cream stick or at the very least a screwdriver. Are the bags better quality?

    Winter Sucks

@98 the UTI are chronic and she has been getting one 2 to 3 times a year. We're all set up with cranberry juice, cranberry supplements, probiotics, electrolytes and as much water as she can handle. With this recent virus she was pretty weak and slept a lot so it was difficult to keep her...

My Generator is portable but what I did do is convert it to bi_fuel so now I can swap it out with my bbq and run it on natural gas. Since doing so 7 or so years ago I haven't needed it and in +30yrs living here I've only used the generator twice. I figured spending money on the conversion was a...

    Winter Sucks

Quite possibly... As global warming causes climate change which means more extreme cold/hot/everything. It's not like that simpleton d_bag senator tried to demonstrate by bringing a snowball into chamber. And even if it's not... It's still pollution and we're eating/breathing more s*it everyday.

Photochromic sunglasses - yes or no?

I'll update my post from 5 years ago. I ride with yellow tinted driving glasses all the time now. They cut enough glare in bright sun, block UV and work best for the constant changing light of a tree lined bike path. ymmv

New Jersey Would Be Foolish To Require E-Bike Insurance & Registration

Trump just tweerted that not only will the take over of Greenland be retribution for not receiving the Nobel... but it will also serve as a penal colony for ebike law violators. Enforcement will be carried out by ICE with the directive to deport first and ask questions later. The transports are...

From Class 2 to Class 1. How "hard" is it to switch?

On that subject I have my start rotation set at 1/4 crank. This gives me the option of starting with the pedal at 3- 5 o'clock and not getting assistance but just get rolling or starting at 1 - 3 o'clock and getting assistance on the initial push without having to adjust PAS. The delay is...

From Class 2 to Class 1. How "hard" is it to switch?

So back to the OP... We've learned that a class 2 is the most practical/safe way to avoid pedal strikes while climbing rough terrain at a reasonable fun pace 🙃 Short throttle bursts rule

From Class 2 to Class 1. How "hard" is it to switch?

Since there is no manual clutch... You're reaching. And I really can't see you riding one of your minimally powered, upright aunt Gertrude machines in that manner. 🙃

From Class 2 to Class 1. How "hard" is it to switch?

On a Bafang the overrun time is programmable. I keep it to a minimum but not 0 as it aides in general smoothness when pedal pressure varies or during brief pauses. It's much more desirable, accurate and safe to millisecond throttle to avoid pedal strikes.

From Class 2 to Class 1. How "hard" is it to switch?

I slow and quick recover all the time without issue. One of the benefits of 1000w at your disposal. And you can't slow and accelerate simultaneously no matter what. As with any setup you learn different ways to get what you want/need when you want/need. Brake cut out are not a necessity, but I...

From Class 2 to Class 1. How "hard" is it to switch?

I know a lot of MTB riders disable the brake cut out as it can interfere with aggressive technical riding. All Bafang mid drives and hub motors have this feature as well as most diy kits and hub drives. Can you get by without one... Well you're proof it's not an absolute necessity. Me on the...

Curious... Are you considering the Pinion MGU version? That said I'm loving the Rohloff on my bike.
