250 watt motor and 18max current controller?

My first DIY ebike was going to be a rear drive on an alloy frame. I posted this picture and was advised to use torque arms because the alloy frame has too many fillets and cutouts. Instead, I moved the motor over to a steel frame bike. What was ironic was that the old 1990's mountain bikes...

250 watt motor and 18max current controller?

Self learning usually works. If you have a voltmeter, measure the throttle voltage to make sure it's increasing smoothly from about .70 v to a max around 4.3 V when you rotate it. Maybe it's jumping from 0 to 4V.

How many miles a year do you ride?

We had a 12" snowfall and an early start to winter lockdown on the last day of November. We had a brief thaw and got out once last month, In the prior year, we had a dozen December rides. Bummer. It's -10C right now. Happy New Years to you bikers that can bike.

250 watt motor and 18max current controller?

I run a 25A KT sinewave controller with a 48V battery into this little Q100H 250W motor. It's rider restraint that keeps it from melting. I use it with an LCD3 display. It might show 1200 W briefly on a hill, but it would be foolish run it at high levels sustained . That's 25A peak anyway. KT...

    Cable actuated hydraulic caliper upgrade

Yes, you need the frame fittings. These replace mechanical disk brakes and work well til they don't. I have installed two HB100's and one of them failed (leak) after a few months, but the replacement has been good for a few years. Probably 5% of them might leak. I have spares. I think you get...

How many miles a year do you ride?

I've been doing 3000-3100 miles annually. My wife comes along for two thirds of that. Sometimes we can ride thru December, but the first snow that sticks ends the season. We're too old to risk a fall,

    Help with my first build!

OK, you already have a 20" fat tire ebike, and think it's too slow? Probably goes 24 mph? By the way, you're lucky if it goes that fast. And you still want to go faster? Well, I've always heard that the 1500W direct drive motors like the Voilamarts can get past 30 mph pretty easily on 48V. Your...

    Replacement controller

Scariest hill I ever saw in Florida was crossing the Sanibel Island causeway bridge, Felt like my seat was above the guard rail and the water was ten stories down. Wind didn't help. Now this was before your hurricane wiped out the bike lanes, I wouldn't do it now.

The Unique New E-Bike With Rivian DNA

It's been tried before. Look up Mando Footloose. Also the Zehus. Both failed. Accordingly, I don't see it as very novel Just another implementation of a bad concept. You don't use your feet to charge a battery. USe them to move the bike. If a motor is helping, that's good. .

    Replacement controller

It's about the rider controlling the power, not the controller limit. You could probably smoke something with the original controller if you insisted. Hill climbing while lugging the motor is what burns them up. If your display shows watts, don't let them get too high. Help out with the pedals.

My dream bike got stolen. Lessons, next?

That's too bad, Denver seems like a great place to live for biking, but the scale of bike theft sounds awful. I don't kmow if a better lock makes much difference if it's a organized gang with angle grinders and vans.

How to find a suitable replacement controller

Oh come on, PedalUma.You could refurb that bike for about the cost of a new one, Meanwhile, for those whose time is cheap, check the PAS sensor signals to see if they flip as expected. Does the display open up? Those buttons on the display are usually membrane switches. Sometimes capacitive...

What camera do you use if you are into photography, when cycling

I plan to upgrade my I-phone SE to their newest one. Will still use my micro43 cameras. I bought a new mirrorless Olympus OM5, back in March. This version was released three years ago, but is still 8 years past my last M43 body. The colors were auto-enhanced with an in-camera filter. My...

How to find a suitable replacement controller

Looks like a well made bike, Is that the controller? I don't think so. Looks like a cable junction for the handlebars that they decided to clamp to the head tube. The controller is probably inside the box that holds the battery, The battery slides out, no? Should be a compartment in front of...

Importing from North America Has Become Tough

With too many ebikes, I used to rotate one mirricycle amongst them, but bikes fall down and the mirror arms broke, I think I now have three. One is held with epoxy and I have another on the bench. Spent close to $75 on the five mirrors. Good mirrors though, Now I use Temu's two-for-five dollar...

A Fire Warning For An E-Bike Battery Was Issued. It Was Too Late For A St. Paul Couple.

I was reading how Chevy outsourced almost everything to LG for the batteries in their Bolt EV, A string of car fires was eventually traced to poorly made LG cells from 2017-2020. LG had to reimburse GM and implement some major changes in manufacture. Not all the cells were bad, obviously, but...
