    SCHWALBE MARATHON PLUS TYRES

I have used Marathon Plus (and lately ePlus) for over ten years. Wouldn't dream of anything else. I retire them long before wearing out at about 10,000 miles but absolutely believe it is a 15K to 20K mile tire. In 50,000 mi I have had 4 flats in all city riding. In that time I've picked...

    Lower Headset Dust Cover

I recently installed a suspension fork on my Gazelle Ultimate T10 (replacing the stock monoshock). After two hundred miles I was "shocked" to see how much fine gravel had accumulated at the lower headset bearing, threatening over time to affect it. I cut a strip of inner tube and (simply) super...

    Changing Hutchinson to Schwalbe tyres

I have been riding Marathon Plus Tires for 10 years on both analog and ebikes. This includes 4 pair over three bikes. The environment is Phoenix AZ (very dry) and strewn with road hazards, both man made (tacks, glass) and natural (goat heads). My mileage obtained is 10,000 to 12,000 miles but...

    Gazelle Ultimate T10

Update - now at 15,000 miles. On 7th chain. Upgraded (yes, it is an upgrade) to Intuvia. I have a second battery that I rotate every other day, although original battery is functioning as new. Wonderful bike.

    Chains

Regarding a Gazelle Ultimate T10 at 15,000 miles; Chains get replaced at .5% wear. Currently on its 7th chain. All (so far) have been a KMC e10 (non EPT) cut to 118 links wiped and lubed (ProLink) every 100 miles. I have sourced these from Great Britain (5ea) and the U.S. directly from its...

    Convert belt-drive to derailleur?

I believe the parts would cost about $450, the single biggest cost being the wheel rebuild. Labor from a LBS would be $350 to $500 making the total estimated conversion $800 to $1,000. I believe these costs to be accurate and hope this information helps your decision. Regards

    Convert belt-drive to derailleur?

I have an Ultimate T10 (2022). I'm quite familiar with its components. What generation of Bosch drive do you have? If you don't know, what is the name on the left motor case? Active Line, Performance Line? Year of the bike? You need; 1. New rear Hub (which means rebuilding or buying a 28" ready...

    pedal pins and cleats

It occurred to me that your shin contact could be due to start/stop technique related to riding a step through frame. Is that the case?

    pedal pins and cleats

Jeepers! Are you slipping off your pedals and banging up your shins? That should be very infrequent if ever. Please consider looking into a pedal/shoe system. As I indicated (above), you will be "stuck" to your pedals under all circumstances. Just because a system like that is a "Mountain"...

    pedal pins and cleats

Most folks see the pedal with pins coupled with a dedicated cycling shoe as an integrated system. Of course you don't need that kind of system, but the results are quite remarkable. Actually feels like being glued to the bike. I've used the same pair of Five Ten Freerider for over ten years...

What does it mean when one motor is better than another??

I might also add this consideration (at the risk of starting a firestorm); There is a 3 Class ebike system accepted throught most of the States. You can look it up anywhere, so I won't take the space here. Point is, if the Class system is used within a particular municipality and actually...

What does it mean when one motor is better than another??

There is a tendency to over-buy. Bigger (or more powerful) may not be best for your circumstances. For the most part, any reputable LBS will advise you on the best combination for you, once you accurately describe how and where you will ride.

Holy crap Aventon! What is this silver stuff you're putting on your chains?!? I've tried 2 different strong degreasers

KMC e series for any ebike. My e10 (on Gazelle Bosch 10t) with 11,500 miles and the fifth KMC e10. Each is good for 2,500 to 3,000 miles with lube every 100. Complete confidence.

    A creak and a rattle

Good day, I suspect the large and hollow nature of the frame transmits such sounds making them hard to trace. My Ultimate T10 (2022 with 11,500 mi) was no exception. Padding the battery case - yes. Ensuring that the stem adjustment bolt was torqued to spec - big difference. I also removed the...

    Lubing an eBike chain

Bosch mid drive - Deore 10sp here - KMC e10: Wipe chain (and chainring) every 50 miles. Lube (ProGold) individual links (118) every 100 miles. Wipe excess. All by bike upright, pedal spin backwards. 2,500 to 3,000 miles per chain.

    Slime in my tires

When I was running schrader valves, I installed pre-slimed tubes on two different occasions. Both times, eventually (within 6 months), the rubber surrounding the valve stem developed leaks. These were premium tubes. The leaks began by the expansion of the rubber (just before they blew out)...

    Gazelle Bike Bell Attaching Ring

Go to the hardware store and get a; 3mm (0.1 in) thick by 25mm (1.0 in) or so diameter rubber "O" ring. This should be a very close replacement for the original rubber strap.
