    ShockStop Stem on Vado SL

Nice item but I believe that the Vado SL headlight has to be mounted "upside down" (as originally equipped) and it doesn't look like there'd be room for that.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I've had the Mastermind on my SL 5.0 that I bought in '22, which is why I couldn't stand the idea of getting one without it. Without a doubt, my #1 favorite feature is MicroTune, which lets me add and subtract assist at a fine-grained level whenever I need it. I also set the bike up to start in...

    ShockStop Stem on Vado SL

For those who have put this stem on your Vado SL (1st gen), what did you do about mounting the headlight?

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

(This appears to have turned into a photography thread but I'll post anyway.) As some may know, I recently purchased a NOS Vado SL 4.0 to replace my current SL 5.0. I had them replace the TCU with a Mastermind and now I'm working on changing accessories over, etc. Anyway, one of my first...

    New Old Bike Day

Good question. Maybe I'll weigh the other bike before I start in on it. The new one doesn't even have a sidestand yet.

    New Old Bike Day

Don't worry -- it will be "fully equipped" by the time I'm ready to ride it! The tail light is mounted under the back edge of the seat. I'll have to disconnect it when I change to the ShockStop post. Since I'll be swapping the seat and post with my 5.0 (which came with the same seat/taillight)...

    New Old Bike Day

This is the "NOS" Vado 4.0 that I mentioned in another thread. I picked it up today after they installed a Mastermind TCU to replace the simpler unit that they put in 4.0s. I'll post another photo in a couple weeks when I've done all the changeover from my old SL 5.0, installed the ShockStop...

Buying a new old-stock Vado SL

I did have it shipped to my LBS but still have a lot of work to do moving various add-ons from my current bike to the new one. OTOH it's actually nice to have something productive to do in the depths of a northern winter.

Buying a new old-stock Vado SL

I'm pretty sure mine has also been in its original shipping case in their warehouse so probably the same condition.

Buying a new old-stock Vado SL

Yes, the color is what sold it for me. I would have been OK with white but the lime green was a bit too much. In any case, this was the only color in my size online; a couple were found in other colors but at dealers a long way off. I thought about switching TCUs but have heard that a dealer...

Buying a new old-stock Vado SL

Yes, that's the reason. My group of regular riding friends is aging and I was there when one guy took a fall that in our younger years he would have jumped right up from. This time, he broke his hip pretty badly and is done permanently with riding. I don't want to end up that way! I posted here...

Buying a new old-stock Vado SL

The front hub on the custom wheels that I had made for my 5.0 is 12x110.

Buying a new old-stock Vado SL

I've been perfectly happy with my Vado SL 5.0 and envisioned riding it indefinitely; at 80yo my bicycle adventuring days are behind me and I'm mainly interested in just enjoying my rides. However, for various health and safety reasons, I would really be better off with a step-thru frame but have...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

It would be wildly impractical to design and mfr a bike with batteries stuck all over the place along with the wiring, charging control logic, etc. that goes along with them, not to mention how you'd get to the inside of places like the top tube for service.

    FX+ 7S?

Example: With the above settings, I'm pedaling at 50W -- which is not that much. 113% of 50 = 57W, so 50 + 57 = 107W at the crank? That's way more boost that I'm generally looking for. Or is 113% the total power? IOW, 50W pedal effort + 13% additional = 50 + 7 = 57W output. That makes more...

    FX+ 7S?

OK, I think that my confusion is a matter of terminology, distinguishing between how much assist is delivered proportional to your pedaling power (what Trek calls "Pedal Response") and the maximum assist that can be delivered in the mode (what Trek calls "Assist"). Correct?

    FX+ 7S?

I guess I don't understand those percentages -- 200% of what? Specialized apparently describes things differently as the max is 100%, meaning 100% of the motor's peak power, and I have my Eco mode assist level for example set at around 25%. A lot of confusion in general about settings like this...

    FX+ 7S?

Thanks for posting an excellent, detailed review. I am just a prospective owner at this time but your range limitations definitely have me concerned. Have you looked at the various mode settings with the app that goes with the bike? My understanding is that you can adjust the amount of assist...

    FX+ 7S?

That's unacceptable, @BakedPringles! Not only have I been on some bike tours where we had to ride in rain most of the day, but, even when riding casually with my local group, we don't start off intending to be rained on but it certainly has been known to happen. I can't imagine riding a bike and...
