    shock absorbing seat posts

I too have the Suntour seatpost and am very happy with it.

    Rad January funding or close

As the owner of a new Radster Trail, I sure hope they can turn things around. They seem to be at that awkward stage... their older models seem to be peceived as lower end and somewhat crude (and limited to class 2), while their new Radster models are class 3 and clearly a step up in...

    Only in France...

Only in France... "A French cyclist who plunged down a 130-foot ravine survived for three days living off a few bottles of red wine that somehow didn’t break in the fall, police have said."...

Should We Eliminate the Time Change?

I like it the way it is. But, if the twice-yearly changeover is eliminated, it should be standard time, because it would most closely align with astronomical time, at least near the center of each time zone. Permanent DST is, IMHO, silly. The whole point of DST, where the clocks don't match...

So what's your other hobbies or interests?

Being pretty far off center on the engineering spectrum (which should be a recognized medical disorder) most of my hobbies seem to involve interesting but (sadly) expensive equipment used outdoors. Things that I once was intensely into but not so much any more include R/C airplanes...

    Ebike rack

That's exactly what I did, except I'm using a laminated paper copy of the plate.

Are covers on hitch dangerous ?

We've had no trouble with our full cover, but it's completely behind the flat back of our micro RV. The cover came with lights and a holder for a license plate (I'm using a laminated copy). It has lots of straps and buckles to pull the slack out so it doesn't flap too bad...

    Ebike helmet

It's a patchwork for sure. Most states require helmets for motorcycles, but not for bicycles (except for children where I think they're universally required). Connecticut requires no helmets for motorcycles or bicycles, but does for ebikes. In neighboring NY State, helmets are required for...

    Ebike helmet

How does this differ from MIPS, which has been available for a while? Looks like just a different way to accomplish the same thing.

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

OTOH, what difference does it make to public safety whether the speed is reached via ghost or throttle? I generally only use the throttle to start from a dead stop (especially uphill) or for a brief rest. Often enough. Just cruising on level ground I'm probably around 20-23, but definitely...

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

Connecticut (which allows class 1, 2, & 3) just updated its ebike laws for 2025. Some age related changes (helmets and min 16 for class 3), requiring class stickers, and some other interesting things, like trying to get a handle on modified bikes: And some odd restrictions on where you can...

Another "what bikes might be a good fit for me" post, but for a short woman

My wife is 5'0" and chose a Zugo, the only thing she found for that small a rider. There's no way she can lift it, but a rack with a ramp solves that problem. Not gonna meet your price target though.

    Hop-Heads and Beer Geeks Unite!

Count me as another who doesn't care for the current trend of very high alcohol beers... I want to enjoy the taste of a few pints, not get hammered by the time I've finished the second one. The NA beers from the Athletic brewery are also quite good. In the summer I like a good session IPA (Two...

    Spam Posts

On another forum where I'm a moderator, we pretty much solved the problem by requiring human approval of all new accounts, with an open ended "why do you want to join this forum?" question.

    E-Bike Suggestion

No, it's the "report" button. Spammers don't care if you read the post or click their link. It's all about search engine ranking: the more other sites link to your site, the higher you are in people's search results. "EmileSmith34" is not a real person but a spambot programmed to harvest...

Having trouble on deciding First time E-Biker

Oops, I mistyped... class 3 is limited to 28mph and 750W (class 2 is limited to 20mph). Not saying a cop would know the difference or care, but unless the Texas laws are different from most other states, technically a 38mph won't be street legal.

Having trouble on deciding First time E-Biker

I've never heard of Tesway, but if that thing is 2000W and goes 38mph it's not a street legal bike, it's an electric motorcycle requiring license, registration, and insurance. Class 3 ebikes are limited to 28mph and 750W.

    Gas cans and fun findings.

Around here the VP Racing jugs are popular. "VP Racing 5.5-gallon capacity container can be used to store, carry, and disperse animal feed and attractants, water, and other outdoor products but should not be used as a portable fuel container." See, they're sold by VP Racing Fuels, Inc., but...
