You know, @Stefan Mikes started our Specialized Vado SL 1 club thread several years ago, and it's been pretty busy ever since. Thank you, Stefan! Maybe he can work his magic again with a Polish club thread — in the off-topic sub-forum, so we'll feel free to talk cabbage to our hearts' content.

stompandgo's Pinarello Nytro E5 Allroad build thread

Must be be nice to have a highly-customized high-end bike put together by somebody who knows what they're doing! Really eager to see the finshed product out in the wild with beaches in the background. Bet you are, too. I know, I know, bikes are like software — never finished, just released.

    Winter Sucks

Guess I won't mention that it was 75°F and sunny at the coast yesterday, and today they're talking 78°. That's not just unseasonably warm for coastal San Diego County. It's warmer than most summer days. And neighborhood old-timers say that they don't recall too many winters with as many...

stompandgo's Pinarello Nytro E5 Allroad build thread

Keep this up, and you'll have the most tricked-out flat-bar Pinarello on the planet! I know nothing about this stuff, but caliper mount issues turned out to be the biggest headaches in this flat-bar conversion project. Might be something helpful here.

Suprised to see that there's no way to delete my own account. Hope @Admin corrects this, cuz it could be a valuable screening tool. Just keep applicants waiting long enough, and the entitled twits will filter themselves out!

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

The only link I saw just took me to the regular Specialized site. Couldn't find a path from there to what you're describing. Did you try the link yourself? ADDENDUM: Correct link to separate Ride site below. I think forum software added the link we were discussing...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Very familiar with that. But @mschwett is talking about something online.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

No question it's more complicated than we think — especially around accelerations and other special situations like starting out and passing through max assisted speed. Maybe even around gear or assist mode changes. Cadence by itself would likely come into play in these cases, but not...

    Thanks, I'll look again.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Where is this hub? Online or in the app? Found nothing online. Absolutely astounding!

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Totally agree on the need for steady-state conditions in tests like these. Did reasonably well at that last time, but next time will be better controlled. At steady ground speed on the flat in still air, power at the rear wheel is all that matters. In principle, torque is irrelevant in the...

    Just for fun...

Went for my 5-year prostate cancer follow-up today. Luckily, barely measurable PSA ever since treatment. Doc looked up the stats. Told me flatly that at my age, I'll probably die from my totally irresponsible diet long before recurrent cancer gets me. Which is exactly the order I want with...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Not without an app. Looked at the Android options a while back and decided against all of them.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Unfortunately, found exactly that yesterday, when I did 15 mi of mostly flat neighborhood laps watching the power ratio S on my SL 1's display: S is the top field here. In principle, it should have been pretty constant for constant E at Pr values along the pre-saturation ramp in the plot of...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Excellent! I'd seen these graphs before but didn't know where they came from. Will play around with the data points in Excel and see what I can learn.

Coffee and E-biking, my two favorite combined things to do

So what is it about cycling and coffee? Pastries, too. Long tradition in cycling, I know, but seems more than just tradition. No shortage of nice stops with other offerings around here. But what I always find myself WANTING most is coffee — usually with a pastry. And the missus, who normally...

Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

Same here. That Stage 2 sandstorm must've been horrible to ride through. Rode through blowing sand just once. Never again. Eyes and every orifice immediately full of sand. After just 100 m, turned tail home to rinse it all out. Not an option for the Alula riders. Milan has had quite a showing...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Miraculous! The good news: First thing I want to know is if mechanical motor power Pm really is linear in rider power Pr at constant E and cadence before saturation. If the TCU's "power ratio" (Pm/Pr) field stays constant under those conditions, linearity is confirmed! Suppose you ride through...

Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

At least the one that got away unharmed. Cycling Weekly said the other had be to euthanized for a leg fracture that "would never have healed in the wild". And half a dozen significant fractures among the riders who had to abandon. Fortunately, none of them had to be euthanized. ;^} At the...

Distinct possibilities now. Can we see those graphs, pretty please? Might be some good clues there.
