Well, that explains this trail sign originally shared by our-long lost Canadian friend, PrairieDog.

Which raises an important question: What DO squatches get excited about? If henry's any guide, not much.

Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

Been thinking about the nationalities I've HEARD ABOUT one way or another during the races I've watched over the last 2 years. Seems like the vast majority of riders mentioned during races hail from countries west of the rough blue line I drew above, Americas included. Cut out Sweden cuz I...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Hard to figure. Surely they're not discovering stock they'd lost track of. According to my dealer, mine was "discovered" languishing in its unopened shipping box in a Texas warehouse. But hard to imagine that happening in numbers big enough to trigger NOS sales.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Ah, like my SL 1 then — purchased in September, 2024, frame sticker dated October, 2022. No discount, though.

    What does NOS mean here?

Marion Iowa Considers Speed Limits for E-Bikes

Looked into local group rides when we moved here. One of the more established rides — way too fast for me — made a point of riding single-file in their online rules. Wonder how much compliance that rule actually gets? None of the other groups with websites said anything about road courtesy. In...

Marion Iowa Considers Speed Limits for E-Bikes

Lots of lycra-clad roadies out and about here. To my eye, most ride responsibly when they're alone or with 1 or 2 other riders. Most of the bad behavior I see comes when they ride in larger groups. But that also goes for pedestrians and ebikers. Put people in a group in a public space — road...

concerns with ebikes laws and ways to improve them

Two sides?? These kids think the world's their playground. Public streets and bikeways and MUPs are NOT playgrounds. The stakes are way too high for that.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Congrats! Great-looking bike! Looking forward to hearing more about it in action. Eager to hear your results. Even with somewhat controlled test rides, still unable make sense of the power ratio readings on my SL 1. Can't argue with the results. The SL's power delivery couldn't feel more...

Sorry, I totally misread your coverage table while half-asleep. The Peacock races were there all along. Duh.

concerns with ebikes laws and ways to improve them

Couldn't agree more. My hometown of Carlsbad, CA passed a raft of new bicycle ordinances in late 2022 after 2 fatal ebike-involved accidents that summer. Neither was the ebiker's fault. Proud to say that almost all of the new rules applied to all bicycles, including the new speed limits and...

Suddenly, Stage 4 of the 2026 Mens Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana is available for live streaming on HBO Max at 0645 tomorrow morning. No sign of earlier stage replays or highlights at this point. * Live UAE Tour coverage will start on Feb 16, Vuelta Andalucia on Feb 18. What's the...

Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

Sorry, meant Peacock, which belongs to NBC, no? Watched the entire TdF, Giro, and Vuelta live on Peacock for the last 2 years. So question is, will that work again in 2026?

Wahoo ELEMNT Ace (on Specialized E-Bikes)

Thanks! l'll scout that route with satellite view to see what the bike infrastructure looks like. It's the horrible traffic on that final westbound segment into downtown La Jolla that worries me.

Wahoo ELEMNT Ace (on Specialized E-Bikes)

Excellent suggestion! I've ridden the 42 mi round trip to the Torrey Pines area of north La Jolla on my SL 1. Fantastic coast ride! But have yet to make it down to the west end of the La Jolla Peninsula near downtown. Bike infrastructure gaps have been putting me off so far, but maybe there's a...

This non-exertional HR variation makes it trickier to use HR as a cheap proxy for rider power Pr. HR still has value as a riding metric, of course. You just have to keep its limitations in mind. On the flip side, there's also opportunity here: By recording HR, you're looking at your rides...

Of course. But her HR correlated well with many different identifiable events in the concert that had little direct connection to exertion. That's my only point.

One reason to trust rider power over heart rate HR: Your HR responds to many things besides exertion. Reminded of this today by the following experiment, wherein Yujah Wang — arguably the Tadej Pogacar of concert piano — wore an HRM while doing what no one's even attempted before — performing...
