    Dual Powered E-Bikes…Worth it?

In looking for a more powerful e-bike I see a number of adds (especially on Amazon) for dual powered bikes. Are these bikes being made as cheap mopeds or do you even pedal them? Is it safe to assume there are two batteries that need to be charged? Does anyone make one that is as reliable and...

How does PAS work on the Zen Photon?

There were two key issues that had me eliminate the different controller, one was the distance was dramatically reduced and the other was Bafang’s advice to not overheat the motor. I dont think I can change the number of PAS levels, so I guess the most reasonable answer is to keep the cadence...

What is the best gearing set up for an E-bike?

10:52 sounds about right, is there a set of gears that are sturdy enough to handle the power? I think the bike currently has a set of Shimano Deore 10 speed gears but not if it is 12:48 or 10:52 or if they wont fail in the middle of a 50 mile ride.

What is the best gearing set up for an E-bike?

I have the BBS02 on two other lighter bikes that we rode for about 4 years. I was tired of transporting bikes between houses so bought my wife a bike in Souther CA and she loved it so much that she bought a second one. The two BBS02 bikes are now bikes used by guests when they want to take a...

How does PAS work on the Zen Photon?

The current set up is pretty equivalent to a 52-12 and is great on the road. I typically ride in gear 11 but the comparison we did using the Aventon bike was calculated so we were using the same gearing ratio (sorry dont remember exactly what the gearing was). Of course climbing steep hills is...

What is the best gearing set up for an E-bike?

Thanks for all the great info. It is almost time to fire up the wood stove in the barn and start pulling the 7 year old BBS02 off the hardtail and start getting the bike ready for the new set up in March…If Luna’s shipment arrives on time.

How does PAS work on the Zen Photon?

So the Zen has a cadence and a torque sensor? My old BBSHD only had a cadence sensor and the PAS setting determined the level of”power” provided if you were maintaining a minimum required cadence. I am trying to understand the relationship between PAS setting and actual ”power” provided. Zen...

What is the best gearing set up for an E-bike?

I am planning on building my wife an E-Bike this Spring. It will be powered by a BBSHD motor and now I am trying to decide on the crank and rear gear set. Riding will be primarily roads in a rural and very hilly area. There are a couple of very steep hills that are about 300 yards long so she...

How does PAS work on the Zen Photon?

While this is not a problem I am curious about how the bike handles PAS. Since the bike has a torque sensor can you get maximum torque in the lowest PAS setting? I have noticed that the watt display can hit 1500 or max in the lowest PAS setting and that gets me wondering how it works. I am...

Looking for a powerful mid drive kit.

i did have a nice chat with Luna cycle and their new shipment of Bafang motors and kits should be at their store sometime in March. They said there are a number of build possibilities that include higher voltage controllers and batteries. They were a little concerned about heat if the bike was...

Looking for a powerful mid drive kit.

Thanks for the suggestions! I am working with the CYC folks on buying an X1 PRO at the same time I am talking to Luna cycle about a modified setup using a BBSD. The plan will be to take my steel framed hardtail Salsa Fargo and turn it into a <60 lb e bike. I did get the Zen worked out by...

Zen Photon Ultra - limited version (Bafang Ultra, Rohloff Speed hub, Gates belt drive)

Why the Ultra vs the M620? My M620 peaks at about 1600 watts in a steep climb. Ultra is rated at a max of 1700 watts.

    Zen Photon Pro- Preorder | 1040Wh UL Certified battery | 500W nominal/900W peak power Torque-sensing motor w/ Throttle | USD 2999 | CAD 3999

My wife’s Aventon came with a thudbuster and she loves it. I wonder if the ST comes with a single elastor or if it comes with several different ones. I weigh in at 198 now so probably need a firmer one. The Zen came with a single very stiff spring and very little flexibility. The Kinekt also...

My wife has a Thudbuster on her bike and swears by it. Would you go ST or LT and why? Never had a cast on, but 36 years in the military have enough scars on my body for 3 lifetimes.

I purchased some more aggressive tires as a lot of our riding is on dirt and gravel roads. You wouldn’t believe how many small villages are connected in the mountains of Idaho via unimproved roads. Anyway, the front fender was constantly rubbing on the tires in spite of my attempts to adjust...

what size is the seat post? I did purchase the Zen seat post and have found it to be very stiff. I did try adjusting it however there was only one place to adjust and like the rest of the bike it came with zero instructions. Oh in converting or modifying the bike for long range rides (50+...

Heavy E Bike hitch rack with ramp?

The Thule Epose is rated at 75lbs per bike. I am assuming that a class C RV will be the same.
