With 125% tariffs, will the e-bike market die?

Best case scenario is I wake up and this is just a particularly awful dream. But I don't think we are that lucky. Though like a lot of awful dreams many things just don't make any sense.

With 125% tariffs, will the e-bike market die?

The problem with your theory and world view is that these things are all interconnected. Even if you have perfect forward knowledge of how events will play out in the financial markets, if somebody somewhere else you've never heard of makes a huge (and stupid) bet that goes bad it may take your...

With 125% tariffs, will the e-bike market die?

All of them, or for all practical purposes all of them. The bike industry as a whole is in poor shape with a glut of products that aren't selling sitting in bike shops. There's no way anyone's buying a new tariff-priced e-bike when there are models from 2022 still in bike shops. The big...

Which is fine if you are 100 percent sure you aren't one of the eggs.

The whole tariff thing is a giant insider trading grift.

Someone needs to take a macroeconomics and finance class. Also it would help to learn some history. The current trajectory seems to be almost intentionally courting a global economic collapse. This is utterly insane. Somehow the United States ended up with a dysfunctional Command Economy...

Has anyone tried building a hub motor wheel with your rim? Is it complicated?

If they can fit a tandem rim might be a good starting point. Also if they could fit a good MTB rim with 36 spokes, but I doubt they would fit your frame. The downside to a tandem rim is that the rear wheel on most tandems isn't dished in and is symmetric and won't fit most singles.

Has anyone tried building a hub motor wheel with your rim? Is it complicated?

I think you are looking at a lot of work to produce a workable conversion in this situation. The multiple problems are all probably solvable, but they will take time and won't be cheap. And you likely will need to buy quite a few different parts and spend a lot of time patiently experimenting...

With 125% tariffs, will the e-bike market die?

Interesting you might say that, because I can't see how you can diversify when both stocks and bonds are going down at the same time. For that matter, most foreign markets are tanking too. Further, when both stocks and bonds are losing value things are really bad. You can argue about that but...

Anyone over the age of 11 who brags about their IQ has serious problems. Anyone who brags about someone else's IQ at any age is worse.

Is AMFLOW The Thing Or Just A Hype?

That's assuming that the dominant factor in what makes a great e-bike is the nominal power output of the motor. In fact I'd argue that in most realistic riding conditions and you have a restricted e-bike the power output is very far down the list of factors you should care about.

    Anybody tried Clik tire valves?

I don't know but when I set the bead on a tubeless tire I always remove the valve core first, pretty much regardless of what kind of valve and compressor or no compressor. Maybe you were taught differently. As for the rest of your concerns I have an expectation that adults on a group ride are...

    Can't decide! Nevo or Homage...

Although an e-bike build from one of the boutique frame makers like Sklar with Chris King or Paul components would be something to behold. And would easily cost more than my first new car.

    Anybody tried Clik tire valves?

My experience has been that by the time the valves get plugged by sealant a lot of sealant has dried inside the tire in interesting shapes which don't do much to protect you from punctures. I've never had a case with a sealant-plugged valve where I couldn't easily remove the valve and clean it...

    Anybody tried Clik tire valves?

I'll only worry when I have to install an app and have a subscription to put air in my tires. Correction: I won't worry because I'll get rid of them in that case. We're talking about tire valves here. A (mostly) inexpensive part that is easy to swap out if you don't like 'em.

    Places that hate bicycle riders.

Lodging that prohibits bringing any bike into your room. Grocery stores (and other businesses) that have bike racks but hide them around a corner so bike thieves can work undisturbed. MUPs that are considered free vehicle parking.

    Seth prefers Schrader valves

The valve is skinnier so needs a smaller hole. Which theoretically compromises the strength of the rim less. This probably matters more (although I don't know how much it ever matters) on skinnier road bike tires. The little locking nut on the valve core can keep the whole valve from...

    Seth prefers Schrader valves

Any working Presta valve has a valve core. You can't keep everything full of air without a valve core in place. On a lot of inner tubes the valve core is not removable. A lot of the lightweight TPU tubes don't have removable cores. If you like screw-on pump heads (like Lezyne pumps have) you...
