Brakes ?? what stopping Me? lol pretty lame I know But?

And another data point: I ride 2 piston Shimano MT400 brakes and they're just fine. My wife rides 4 piston Shimano BR-8120 (Deore XT) and they brake well, needing slightly less level pressure. The Deore's also have finned brake pads, which is supposed to help cooling. I'm about 190lbs, bike is...

Ultra Tuning: Master Thread -- Start Here!

Quick Start: Over the past several months I've had requests to post my settings. I haven't done that for the obvious reasons that my bike, my setup (ludicrious congroller, EggRider), myself, and how/where I ride are almost certainly different than anyone else here. For instance, I suspect...

    Cheap vs Quality Tail Lights?

I used the center hole on that mount to put a bolt through the spot where the rack's reflector used to be. But, yeah, there are a whole bunch of mods you can do to the plastic to adapt it. And the light itself comes with a post mount that's in two pieces, so if you have a left to right bolt hole...

    Cheap vs Quality Tail Lights?

Cheap lights aren't worth the risk, IMO, since the whole point is your safety. I'm happy with the Cygolite products: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W62CCL2 is $48 and you can buy an additional mount like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009VUB0Q8 for about $7

Ultra Tuning: Setting up PAS levels in the Basic Tab

These are the main reasons I haven't posted my specific settings. They don't apply to different bikes, different riders, or in different riding environments. I think the matrix of such differences are so great that it becomes really hard to have a set of "stock" settings from which to choose...

Installed a Rohloff Speedhub 14, IGH on my mid-drive Luna Z1 Ultra Mag

Seems like you think the chain broke first, and that set off the subsequent events. But, don't chain breaks simply unravel from the gearing? Does the tensioner look like it got hit? In terms of chains, it's too bad a single speed chain won't work, because those have full bushings for increased...

Ultra Tuning: Setting up PAS levels in the Basic Tab

Just a note that I updated the first post in this thread with: 1) A new screen grab 2) Some findings on trying to set PAS 0 to the lowest possible values. 3) A note on why my screen grab show 2 magnets when I only have 1.

    Luna X2 Impressions (Hydra Comparison)

After bleeding brakes on various cars over the decades, I was surprised to discover the hard way just how different bleeding bicycle brakes are. The first culprit is that the inside hose diameter is very small. With Shimano, they decided to make the newer BH90 hose inside diameter smaller than...

Ultra Tuning: Decoding the Pedal Assist Tab

As long as you're applying more than Start(kg) pressure (in the SPD0 column) and the crank is rotating you should be getting motor output at least at MinCur(%) levels multiplied by the Limited Current(%) setting of the PAS level you're in. Crank rotation is detected with internal magnets and...

Is it safe to freely use the throttle WHILE PEDALING on a mid drive?

Have you reached out to Evelo to ask them about changing the default PAS level percentages? Evelo claims to have special programming to raise the max power from 600 to 1200 watts. Maybe they can give you a VESC program to reset the levels to be lower.

Eggrider V2. Can you adjust torque settings of Bafang M620/G510 motors with this?

I do that with the EggRider all the time. Just because you've connected your phone doesn't mean you can't use the physical buttons on the EggRider.

Eggrider V2. Can you adjust torque settings of Bafang M620/G510 motors with this?

Since this is an EggRider thread, I'll continue. If you're not going to tune your motor, then the major advantage of the EggRider is that you get to use your phone as your eBike display. While some won't want to do this ever, for others that use the phone on the bike anyway (for, say, GPS /...

    Wrench for 15mm rear axle?

Yeah sure, but the OP's photo shows an Enviolo hub with belt drive, which means just loosening the axle bolt may not be enough by itself to remove the wheel. For a short time I had a bike with such a hub, and my recollection is that I also had to loosen the two hex bolts visible in that photo to...

    Wrench for 15mm rear axle?

+1 on the Knipex. This 6" model handles a lot (don't know if it'll handle the axle bolt, but they make larger sizes as well): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005EXOK0Y

    Ultra install problems

Range is based entirely on battery capacity (typically expressed in watt-hours, or wh), and your riding efficiency (wh/mile). With a CANbus Ultra you can't fit an EggRider, but UART Ultras can be fitted with an EggRider, which reports your average efficiency in wh/mile, and consumption per ride...

Ultra Tuning: Where other guides go wrong

That's not a conclusive test. The test I ran is described here: https://forums.electricbikereview.com/threads/ultra-tuning-decoding-the-torque-tabs-spd-table.52505/ Essentially, I zeroed out MinCur & MaxCur in all the SPD columns except one and then rode the bike to see when power kicked in and...

SRAM GX Eagle AXS Electric Shifting for Hydra

Please see: https://forums.electricbikereview.com/threads/experiences-with-sram-axs-wireless-derailleurs.53918/ How is shifting under load with the wireless setups? Did the Hydra ship with power-interrupt sensors to temporarily cut off the motor while shifting to help drivetrain life?

    Ultra install problems

For the Ultra motor, if you're using the stock spider you need a 5 bolt 130 BCD chainring AND then you need a tooth design that's compatible with the chain you're using. For instance, see this Wolf Tooth page, which says in part: Of course, that's aluminum, so may not be what you want. FWIW, I...

Using a Thule EasyFold rack with a swing away attachment

Yeah, I've seen that general guideline. The reading I've done on hitches makes me think that we're over-estimating the vertical load that can be applied via a bike rack to most hitches. Here's a thread of interest...
