Ultra Tuning: Master Thread -- Start Here!

Yeah, looks like the rejiggering of the forums caused all those links to break. Should be fixed now, thanks.

Chain length dilemma: Who to believe?

I’m late to this thread, but since you have a Shimano Deore derailleur you should follow Shimano instructions, not SRAM. Some of the wide range SRAM derailleurs might have different chain length requirements.

    Bafang BBS-02/HD vs M600 vs M620 (Ultra)

I'm sure leaving my posted experiences out was an unintentional omission on your part. What strikes me as non-ignorable to this day is that after several years (dating back to 2017) and several"programming guides" being posted on the interwebs and here on EBR's forums, it wasn't until last...

Ultra Tuning: Master Thread -- Start Here!

Great to see people customizing settings for what they want - it's why I was hesitant to post my own "quick start" settings in the first place. That said, I do have a couple observations, which may or may not be relevant to people: 1) Gionnirocket's Delta Voltage table settings are linear from...

Ultra Tuning: Where other guides go wrong

I would assume he's running the EggRider phone app, so there isn't any right clicking or administrator rights. Have you tried asking in the EggRider Facebook group? That's where they handle support.

Question on Bafang serial numbering and model

The serial number and 48v controller indicate to me that it's a 750watt. The sticker for the bicycle was probably just to get around import/use restrictions. A lot of that going around.

    m620 reduced power issue

Instead of using "Display Command" for "Designated Assist," why not use level 9, which is set to 100% current? You can always modulate the throttle to get less output if you don't need it all.

    m620 reduced power issue

On a 52V battery, full charge is 58.8volts and 50volts would be just under 50%. That's only 17miles of "normal"? riding to drain half the battery. It's likely the BMS has its own low voltage cut-off. That said, 47v is too low for a 52v pack. EDIT: I meant high, sorry. Cut off should be around...

    m620 reduced power issue

Can you discuss more about "Power Save mode?" I've not heard that term used with the Ultra motor/controller before. When I saw your first post I was thinking that your 18A Max Current was the issue and that I've not seen an Ultra configured from the factory with less than 30 as its Max Current...

Oakland has paid $35M in 10 years to people injured on its dangerous roads

I would agree with that, but I also think your hyperbolic Delta Voltage table is also contributing to that early power feel. To explain a bit about how it works (roughly speaking): 1) When you pedal, the torque sensor returns a Voltage in proportion to how much force you're putting on the...

Ultra Tuning: Master Thread -- Start Here!

That's SPD60 territory. Looks like your SPDxx table is setup for the Frey tune, which I don't think is an optimal tune. In particular, the Full(kg) starting high and linearly decreasing isn't based on any real world data or even, IMO, desired behavior. You need all the power you can muster to...

Ultra Tuning: Master Thread -- Start Here!

That's quite low, as the full 60kg of pressure should output over 3200mV. What were your SPDxx table settings? What was your pedal crank cadence? What was your bike speed? Maybe try setting Full(kg) to some lower value, like 30, for the SPDxx columns corresponding to your bike speed up the hill.

Changed my mind about my Gear Shift Sensor today - Disconnected it.

No, the Bafang Ultra motor is normally set for at least some run after pedaling stops. The KeepCur(%) in the SPDxx table on the Torque Page is normally what people associate with this behavior. There is also a KeepCurrent(%) on the Pedal Page, but that's most likely an unused left-over from...

Ultra Tuning: Master Thread -- Start Here!

You don't want my Quick-Start settings, which I setup for my riding style, which is that I want to get the motor to assist me as I pedal harder. You basically want a throttle to get you up the hill. That's not a judgement, btw, just an observation. The first thing I'd ask/suggest is at what...

Ultra Tuning: Decoding the Torque Tab's SPD Table

Changing the Delta Voltage table will change when max pressure is detected at any speed. Changing the SPDxx values will change when max pressure is detected at the speeds covered by the columns in which you change it. It's easier for humans to control pedal pressure at low pedal cadences than...

Ultra Tuning: Master Thread -- Start Here!

Note that the Quick-Start is a starting point. Depending on your bike, your fitness, and how you ride you should think about what is working well and what isn't. For instance, it looks like between the 38T front chainring and knobby tires that you've set your bike up for off-roading. So I...

It's probably your KeepCur(%) values, which have to be at least as high as MinCur(%). Try setting each column's KeepCur(%) to that column's MinCur(%) and try again.

Ultra Tuning: Decoding the Torque Tab's SPD Table

Again, make sure you're doing a Write yourself after you've made changes. Do you know how this "special software" is setting the 45kph speed limit? Do you see the "45" listed anywhere on the Pedal tab or Basic tab? Presumably, it's not in the display, since I don't believe Frey ships with...
