Ebike-Specific Chain Versus Regular Chain for Mid-Drive Ebike (Pictures!)

I've been running X01 chains since before I first posted about them, so a few years. Two Luna Apollos, with 1500 watt output, bikes are 70 lbs, I'm about 185 lbs, my wife is substantially less though. Climb hills as steep as 18%. Chain stretch has been minimal, and no breakage. I can't speak for...

Toughest Mid Drive Chain for 12spd Mountain bike

Unless something has changed in the past couple of years, multiple tests have ranked the SRAM X01/XX01 12-spd chains as the longest lasting. See this post for instance...

    Helmet Safety Protection Ratings

Note that such mounting will affect how well the helmet performs - between the added weight and location of the camera on the visor, above your face/eyes.

Hydraulic Disc Brakes - Anyone Change 'Mineral Oil' With Brake Pads?

I second the recommendation to get a new bike shop. Brake bleeding/fluid change is a standard maintenance item that any partially decent bike shop should be able to handle. As for when to change, Shimano says when the brakes feel spongy or the fluid color has changed. Unfortunately, to see the...

Ebike-Specific Chain Versus Regular Chain for Mid-Drive Ebike (Pictures!)

I recommend reading this older thread on Mid-Drive Chain Care. The 80% wear figure your bike shop said you had was hopefully based on chain stretch. The general rule is at 1% chain stretch, your chain is worn. Anything under 0.5% stretch and your chain is fine. Most advise replacing the chain...

Ultra Tuning: Decoding the Voltage Section of Torque Tab

Hi AndZab, thanks for looking into this. I personally find the Delta Voltage Table to be the most confusing part of Ultra tuning, as the table works backwards and each row is additive to the previous rows. So, it's certainly possible that I mis-stated something along the way. Let's look into...

Ultra Tuning: Decoding the Torque Tab's SPD Table

I had a DM last month from someone tuning his uart Ultra motor, and seeing behaviors he attributed to the SPD torque tab being related to cadence instead of wheel rpm. Here's a test anyone can run to verify for themselves: 1) Save all your current settings so you can restore them after the test...

    Bafang Ultra Controller Swap

It's also important to note that both the display and the Bafang controller have their own independent settings for wheel diameter/circumference and speed limits. For Bafang (in the Basic tab), the Wheel Diameter works with the number of magnets you have (set via Speed Meter Signal setting) to...

Should I Buy A Pedal Wrench?

Any reason a standard hardware store washer isn't good enough?

DJI vs Bosch vs Pinion: Unbelievable Difference!!

The DJI is pretty impressive, from the 800wh battery in the downtube to the Action 4 touchscreen in the top tube. All controls completely wireless.

Should I Buy A Pedal Wrench?

And even then the direction of the threads would make that tighten, not loosen, the pedal. Hardest thing about pedal removal is remembering which way is loose on which pedal. Hint: Right pedal threads are the normal (right) way. Left pedal thread are the opposite (left to tighten).

    Electric Air Pumps 2024

The Frumpa pumps look really nice, if expensive. I just bought this on Prime Day sale: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CLTTB86X But I have big 27.5x3 tires to fill. For bigger, non-carry use, it's hard to beat the Lasfits: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CCJFMTCJ I carry that one in my...

Thought I'd post an update to what I have now: 1) Replaced the Weanas Grips with the PRUNUS Bike Grips: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0756TM4CX The end hooks are great for a varied position or heavy climbing. 2) Upgraded the Cygolite 600 Metro to their Ranger 1400 model...

    Ultra Chainring Swap?

Chainguards are not there to prevent the chain from coming off the chainring. They're there to keep pants and such from getting caught between the chain and chainring, as well as getting greasy from rubbing against the chain on the ring. And since the Ultra is set up to have just one chainring...

Mounting a BBSHD in an Ultra frame?

The BBSHD needs a bottom bracket housing in which to mount. With the Ultra frame you don’t have that mounting option.

No power/current display after Ultra 620 Canbus-UART conversion

It should be pretty straight-forward - the display/EggRider is directly connected to the motor controller via the wiring harness, so assuming you're actually pedaling or using the throttle there should be both non-zero Power and Current displayed. You mentioned replacing the "torque sensor,"...

    Bafang M620 upgrade?

One can tune the ULTRA (M620) to require almost no torque to output high power, of course. And a 52Volt Ultra produces a lot of power. My guess is the OP with an Ultra and Rohloff either has a problem in the motor or hub (or dragging brakes or something), or is simply not using a low enough gear.

Ultra Tuning: Decoding the Torque Tab's SPD Table

Yeah, it's a bummer EggRider removed the Torque Live Value functionality. Maybe if enough of us ask on their Facebook page they'll put it back (I've already asked). One suggestion I have for starting is to make all the SPDxx column values the same. This way bike speed won't factor into your...
