A Fire Warning For An E-Bike Battery Was Issued. It Was Too Late For A St. Paul Couple.

I'm thinking of storing our 2 batteries in an insulated gun safe this Winter. I'll move the firearms to another safe.

    Charger timer?

I use a digital timer that I picked up from Amazon, my Bosch battery recharges at the rate of 20%/hour, making it easy to set the charge time.

After 3 hours both my battery and my butt need to recharge, DW has a Cloud 9, and is good for about an hour.

2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

The Maxim around here, is to brake to avoid collisions with anything smaller than a moose, that would include bears, and deer. You should also brake to avoid hitting a moose, but if that doesn't/won't work, swerve; you don't want to have a 1,000+ pound critter coming through your windshield.

The tree behind your bike in that last pic looks near pornographic.

2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

This time of year I carry bear-spray in my bike bag, and a bear-banger in my pocket when I'm riding the trails. If I'm out walking, I have the bear-spray on my belt. We have seen a couple of black bears this year.

What a Difference Four Years Make

My X-Duro Trekking had a Bosch mid-drive; I think it was their Gen-1 model.

What a Difference Four Years Make

I bought my first ebike in 2016, we had purchased a cheap ebike for my DW earlier in the year, it was a cadence sensor, and pretty much took off to 20kph with the first crank. I could barely keep up on the flats, and she would lose me in the hills, and we have a lot of hills in our area. I...

What a Difference Four Years Make

A small town nearby hosts a bicycle-tour-day every summer; the tours range from a 100k Mountain Madness, to a 20k easy-rider. The event attracts 150+ participants and all proceeds from entrance fees goes to the local mental health clinic and food bank. I usually alternate between the 65k road...

I've been to all of them save for Inuvik; I have been to Iqaluit, Barrow, Resolute Bay, and Kuujjuak though.

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Getting off of my duff and learning how to post pics is moving up on my to-do list. Since I retired from a software engineer position 20 years ago, I have become somewhat of a Luddite. We do have cell service and Internet availability here in the woods, but the Internet is a cell/sat hybrid...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

We live in the woods beside a river. Due to rocks and rapids, the river is not suitable for outboard motors, but we do get a lot of canoe traffic during the Summer months. Things drop off at the end of August, but weekend activity is still very high through until October when the Autumn...

Where do you keep your bike?

In the garage; the garage also contains our 3 freezers, so we keep it heated. Temperatures can drop into the -20s C or lower during the winter. We live in a cabin, in the woods of Northern Ontario, Canada. In the past, most of our heating was accomplished with wood and our fireplace. Due to...

Need help on choosing my first e-bike! Want to purchase from website.

We changed the grips on DW's Level 3 and swapped out the handle bars for more of an upright "Cruiser" posture.

    Do you ride with someone?

I usually ride alone, a group ride once a week during the Summer months, and with DW on occasion. My rescue strategy is a cell phone, and for backup, a couple of $20 bills in my pocket.

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

I purchased my first ebike, a Haibike Xduro Pro, in 2016. I loved the bike, it got me back into a sport that I have loved my entire life, but had largely given up due to advancing age and lessening capabilities. After 9 years, my Xduro was still going strong, me, not so much. Getting my leg...

Thule Easyfold XT2 - A good rack for ebikes and the best one if you have fenders

Our 2 bikes, Aventon and Bulls, weigh a combined 132(ish) pounds, which puts them a whisker above the 130# limit of the Easy Fold. We went with the Hollywood Destination rack, it has a 140# capacity, and a ramp.

    DW's Aventon Has Arrived

We ordered, and paid for the bike in March, and after numerous missed delivery dates, we pick it up tomorrow. In talking with the vendor, he is hoping for one more delivery before price increases. This bike will replace a 2018 BH Evo City Wave. DW has a bad knee, so requires a class 2 bike...

Rear view mirror - bar end

Another vote for Mirrcycle, after 8 years, the original Mirrcycle on my Haibike finally gave up. Ninety percent of my rides involve loading my bike on a carrier, and driving to a trail. While on the carrier, I tilt the mirror horizontal to reduce wind-drag; the wear on the plastic finally...
