2018 e-Bike Burrito Ride (Start at Post #12)

Thanks for the reminder! I am busy getting ready for the Chelan and Leavenworth Earth Day events in April and an electric car rally in Winthrop during May. How does an early June ride sound to you?

Known Issues & Problems with Power-in-Motion (Polaris) Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I agree! The most recent 380 Wh battery (8.6 Ah) is an improvement over the original 264 Wh (6.0 Ah) but I want the "announced" but not yet available 500 Wh (11.4 Ah) pack. To be fair I still ride my 264 pack because in -1 Assist I can get about 20 miles on easy trails. If it is more challenging...

Known Issues & Problems with Power-in-Motion (Polaris) Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I have only one real complaint about the design of the PIM e-Bikes. The "Trip Meter" is not calibrated in Tenths of a mile, it only shows whole miles. Why the designers thought that trail riders would benefit from this is a mystery to me.

2018 e-Bike Burrito Ride (Start at Post #12)

Nancy; thanks for the question about the e-Bike Burrito Ride. We have not set a date for 2018 but are certainly considering April as the month. In central Washington April is often blessed with sunny cool days plus many are starting to "think" about riding again after the long cold winter...

    Sun Tour Quick Loc

I do not usually need to remove the front wheel but recently did so that the PIM would fit into the back of a friend's vehicle. Was I amazed when I saw this Sun Tour Quick Loc through axle? Well, yes I was. I think there was some documentation about this when we un-boxed the new Benny but I...

    PIM Power in Motion Bicycle

I have been riding the 380 Wh battery all summer. I will for sure buy the 500 Wh when it comes available. Both the 264 and the 380 Wh Lithium packs seem well priced to me and I suspect the 500 will also be reasonable. I have mounted Topeak handlebar water bottle cages on both my and my wife's...

2018 e-Bike Burrito Ride (Start at Post #12)

Burritos (or actually, what ever menu item chosen) supplied by the South Mexican Restaurant at the Pybus Public Market. Next year we are planning to add a poker run element based on cards depicting the ingredients of a burrito... Draw a card at each stop, at the end of the ride the rider who...

Now is a great time to get a PIM e-Bike for Christmas.....

    Invitation to Register

The ability to let PIM know you have one of their e-Bikes is now available at (Link Removed - No Longer Exists) Scroll to the bottom of the page and select the “Warranty Registration” button; you can register your bike and your batteries. Why would you do this? I can think of two reasons...

    Solar charging a PIM e-Bike

I was plugged into the 12 VDC outlet which is rated at up to 10 Amps. This would mean the maximum output would be 120 Watts. The 380 Wh battery would, if the starting point was fully discharged, take 380/120=3.2 hours. Lithium achieves its best charge cycle life when kept at a SOC (State of...

    Solar charging a PIM e-Bike

Hey, excellent point! The intended use is to charge the PIM e-Bikes while camping far away from the electrical grid. In the past we got one ride; with this solar system we can recharge both e-Bikes every day. We also use the system as a power back up for our home in north central Washington...

    Solar charging a PIM e-Bike

The built in 12 VDC to 44 VDC converter is the key to solar charging your PIM e-Bike. Why charge with 12 VDC? Well how about camping in remote areas, or while driving to the ride. The picture attached is a Goal Zero Yeti Lithium storage system connected to a Boulder 100 solar array. The day I...

Known Issues & Problems with Power-in-Motion (Polaris) Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Start Up Procedure! One issue I faced with the Polaris and PIM e-Bike was what seemed to me to be erratic assist. I was some what embarrassed when I viewed one of the new PIM videos that highlighted the fact that the e-Bike must be in 1st gear and stationary when the system is turned on. I...

    Polaris No Longer Make eBikes

Just to add my experience to this topic; PIM has batteries (improved BMS and even a larger capacity option) parts and components for sale on their new website. They seem to be willing to support the Polaris branded e-Bikes. I live not far from Redmond, WA where PIM is headquartered in the...

    PIM New Sales Method

The company behind the Polaris e-Bike brand is continuing on in with its own brand; Power In Motion or PIM. The line of e-bikes is nearly the same with improvements in battery, BMS and motor control. Another significant difference is in the sales model. PIM is now using a customer direct...

    Terrain EV503

We have accumulated only 42 miles on each bike since purchase. Most of our riding has been off pavement. The bikes handle well and are comfortable to ride. My only real immediate concern is that I would like a few less teeth on the chain wheel for a lower overall gearing. The assist is very...

    Terrain EV503

Today we rode a Terrain EV503 and a Sabre 505 along 12 miles of well maintained, but steep, dirt and rock (not to be confused with gravel) road, one half mile of easy single track trail and about one mile of very rutted not maintained dirt road. The maintained dirt road is a steep 6% grade...

    Terrain EV503

I am going to test ride a Polaris Terrain EV503 this Thursday. We have been looking at Emotion and the Polaris. We have a Polaris Ranger EV Li so this brand has a natural "edge" on the others in our opinion. The BIG deal is finding a receiver hitch platform carrier for these guys. At about...
