I don't know the proper name??

    MTB trail layer for RideWithGPS

I use the unpaved cycling map overlay all the time when I’m riding my trails, Jeremy. Very useful. Yeah, sorry. I don’t know what this “MTB trail layer” is. Hope it’s of some use (sounds like possibly not). As mentioned, I haven’t used RWGPS for any trip planning, though I know some of you...

I don't know the proper name??

Hey, NV... I’m not sure if there are too many inverted forks for fatties. I wonder if there’s a monotube fat-tire fork and/or how expensive it would be. I don’t recall seeing anything. Good luck.

    MTB trail layer for RideWithGPS

Hi gang, This new RideWithGPS trip planning feature might be of some use. It’s available for all users. I know some/many of you use RWGPS. FYI, I haven’t tried it yet as I haven’t done any planning with RWGPS. Their map overlays have been very useful for me for my local riding.

Anyone else still putting miles on their RipCurrent S?

Thanks, gang! Yup, for the record I’m a retired guy who used to love to mountain bike when I was younger. About 15 years ago I gave riding up almost entirely because I could not get comfortable anymore on my mountain bike. What you said, @teskow , is pretty much how I feel about the RCS. I...

Anyone else still putting miles on their RipCurrent S?

Bought Fättie about 6 months before Juiced went under in 2024… Is anyone (else) still putting miles on their RipCurrent S? I just rolled over 3000mi today, which is not bad for a year and a half, with about 2 months of downtime from needing to get parts, etc. Due to failures, I’ve had to...

2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Couple of shots of Fättie preening, plus look at the odometer (lower right) in the last picture. Yow! Not bad for a year and a half (and a couple of months of downtime)...

    FX+ 7S?

It should be noted that while there are some UL standards about batteries, I don’t think there’s any standard about water prevention for e-bikes in general. I even have a UL listed battery which is fatally-flawed with open ports (but easily sealed) so don’t get cocky and think you’re immune to...

Frequent access problems: “Oops! We ran into some problems"

Charge, there are a lot of downsides for the forum owners with cloudflare which will probably deter them from going that way, including the fact that they have to point the internet DNSs to cloudflare rather than the site itself. Anyway, we’ll see. I too had an outage this morning.

Here is what I did to my Cybervelo EK7

Wow, 60T! Is this bike capable of climbing at all with such a big chainring in front now? Also, that’s quite a big box for your rear rack. Could be a little problematical for you if you put anything heavy on that, especially if it shifts around. But, it looks pretty cool!

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

I’m pretty sure this is not true in my own case. I think a much larger percentage of my behavior is governed by my world view. That has changed radically in the last few years, and my behavior accordingly. Also, I have found that living within some very clear credos makes things right (for...

    Handlebar Extention Issues ?

I put this stem extender on my MTB trying to make it more comfortable to ride. I had to redo the front (left) brake cable because it was too short with the handlebar raised 7 inches. However, the rest of the cables were fine. I think a stem extender is what you’re referring to? Ultimately, I...

    2018 Rad City chain upgrade

Ditto on the KMC e chain. Happy with mine. I don’t know why your guy used a chain with fewer links to replace the one you had. That’s sloppy. You need a couple of tools to change a chain; a chain breaker tool to pop out links, and a master link pliers to remove (and installl) the master...

    FX+ 7S?

Interesting. In the immortal words of Johnny Carson… I did not know that!

    FX+ 7S?

After the fact, maybe, but make sure your battery is sealed and has no holes open to take on water/salt/slush/etc…. I had a UL listed battery that failed because stuff got in it (not a Trek, mind you, but that’s neither here nor there). Having said that, you may have gotten water in/on the...

    Recumbent E-bikes

Wishing you the very best, 6! I know you have already experimented with stuff to get more comfortable. If you go the way of a recumbent, I’d certainly like to hear more about it. The StreetMachine looks like a pretty cool beast if you can figure out how to get on and off it. The full...

    Ebike helmet

From what I can see of the standard, the manufacturers seem to be arguing for more coverage of your head because of 28MPH speeds. And it looks like a light at the back of the helmet is part of the standard, but I’m not sure. All I know is that wooden shoes make a terrible contact patch with my...

    Ebike helmet

I wouldn’t make that leap… Wanna’ bet Smith just didn’t ante up with supplying this lab with helmets to test? Having said that, if you’re looking at a helmet that is on this list, the data certainly looks valuable for assessing/comparing.
