Necrothread. I’ll admit; I looked.

Are Any Of The Amateur Radio Operators On Here Bringing Any Gear With Them On Bikes Rides?

I think that’s cool, Jim. If you really get into it, you’ll have to figure out how to mount it on your handlebars and power it from your bike battery! :) Cheers. WA2MAL (from the 1970’s).

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

Well, it certainly is inexcusable for the bikes to stop working with their website down, if that’s what happened. Jeez. I read something on the (current) site that you don’t need to run the app (at least with the new bikes?).

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

I really like that elongated top tube design. I haven’t seen anything like that before. To me it looks indestructible with those monstrous-diameter tubes, and at the same time it looks kind of svelte. Very nice design. To my eye, separating the hub motor from the gears/IGH really makes the...

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

That Vanmoof is wicked cool, @mschwett . Very interesting beast with a unique design. Battery and electronics are in the top tube? Do you like how the combination of pedal power through the IGH works with a front motor? Seems really clever for anything but rough MTB-type terrain!

2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Very nice indeed. Are they still around or is it just that they don’t make fatties anymore?

Bummer. Let us know what you find out.

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

Well, you know, Starlink is using ion-drive propulsion for its satellites. So, maybe someday? (I’m just joking guys, but I do hope battery tech grows maybe an order or magnitude distance/weight in the near future.)

My DIY builds: GMAC, BBSHD, 9C RH212, CYC Photon, ToSeven DM01, Grin All Axle

😉 Seriously, forgetting track experiences, I had the S2000 for over 15 years, and I’ve had Miatas for about 20… The S2000 was always more “me,” Gionni! Nice, jug!

My DIY builds: GMAC, BBSHD, 9C RH212, CYC Photon, ToSeven DM01, Grin All Axle

Hey, Harry. I owned a Honda S2000 for many years and tracked and autocrossed it. What a load of fun. I think 140HP would be on the low side for really flinging a car around, but I’m sure it depends on the track!!! These days I own a Miata, but that hasn’t seen a track. It’s not really...

Obsolete: Velowave dumping a few Juiced bikes

Hi, @Explorer-1 . The RCS that Velowave had listed back at the start of Sept. was not the latest model. They either sold it or wrote it off during Labor Day weekend since, as you say, the RCS (and the other Juiced bikes) are not on their site anymore.

    MTB trail layer for RideWithGPS

I suppose that depends a lot on your location, 6. I can see this being useful for some planning (eventually), based on BlackHand’s post above.

    MTB trail layer for RideWithGPS

Ah, so, a little more information which explains the situation… Basically, this map layer is taking data from a new “source” that doesn’t appear to have anything to do with RWGPS itself. Great! But, not useful until it matures. Don’t see your local trails? You can edit and add trails to the...

    The Universal Ebike!

I think it’s awesome. Whatever gets people on bikes. The good/known fatty manufacturers (Lectric, Aventon, Velotric, etc.) have great products in this space. As a 26” fatty rider, I get that 1) it’s harder for the makers to build quality into 26” package, and 2) 26” fatties like mine are a...

    MTB trail layer for RideWithGPS

Well, I’m not seeing much either when I use just MTB layer in the places where I ride. I think Jeremy is right that it’s a work in progress. I know that by comparison the unpaved layer shows a lot. And, of course, when you turn on the global heatmap you get a LOT of (potentially) good stuff...

    Offset Saddle Adapter

Very clever. My only hesitation is — and I know nothing about the Gorix stuff — crappy metals will fatigue very fast when put in contact with a (good) seat post clamp. The rails in a junky saddle that I bought deteriorated in a couple of months because of that.

    MTB trail layer for RideWithGPS

Right. I only meant that I don’t know what it is because I haven’t used it yet, Jeremy. ‘zackly! Good to know. I haven’t run into any of that here in central MA, but I get it.
