    Fulfilling a dream

Ahh, high performance speaker wire, the choice of audiophiles everywhere. I got into an argument with one many years ago when he said he could tell the difference between something sampled at 44khz and 44.1khz. After Monster cable came out some magazine did a test with a some self proclaimed...

    Fulfilling a dream

Be wary of buying wire when dealing with such small voltages or large currents. Much of the wire out there today is CCA, Copper Cladded Aluminum. Over long distances there's a significant voltage drop and with large currents, there's a significant increase in heat, which leads to increase in...

    Fulfilling a dream

Fryer is back from the shop and it works perfectly. He did recommend having the thermocouple replaced but it's functional for now. He didn't have any in stock and wouldn't have it for a couple of weeks. Every one of these appliances has a different method of lighting, we're going to make a...

    Excuses to Ride

Did a quickie ride up to the store to get milk and a few other things. Gonna do asian food for dinner tonight. Get back to the bike rack and there was a roadie there loading up a pannier with groceries. He wasn't there went I went in. He only had it on one side, asked him if it throws off...

    Excuses to Ride

I grew up riding bike around here. At 12yrs old, I was regularly riding the roads, going to the local market or hardware store. I used to ride bike to school which was about 5 miles. As I got older I'd ride further. Friends and I used to ride out to a mall or the outlet shops for giggles...

    Excuses to Ride

If you want pucker factor, this is leading up to that blue truck. It's far worse. I really like the bus blocking the useless bike lane.

    Excuses to Ride

Blue pickup truck on the right? That's the access road from the other side of Route 30. I was watching him close to see if his tires moved at all. It's tight through there. Normally I'd ride the line, but the line is so close to the curb that my pedals would hit. I keep a good eye on my...

    Excuses to Ride

She asked because she doesn't know about the club or the average riders. The club does work on getting some bike infrastructure in place, so far, they've gotten some lanes put in throughout the city. I have yet to actually see a bike use them. The lanes on the road in that video are useless...

    Excuses to Ride

I did get to pass a spandex festooned roadie yesterday on my way to the grocery store. I've found that some roadies will wave or say "hi" others not so much. I told my wife that on today's run I'd have to walk my bike into Home Depot because there's no place to tie up there. No one seems to...

    Excuses to Ride

It's not flat around here, but there are very few bike paths, and I don't ride on sidewalks. Here's a little example of what it's like running errands up here. I made a run down to Home Depot, about 5 miles on the route I take, which is mostly secondary roads and some through a park, but this...

New exhaust fans are in. The original ones were drawing between 16 and 17A. These are drawing around 8A when both are running. They don't move as much air, but they move enough to do the job. A friend shipped me a FLIR a while ago when we started working on the fridge. I don't know why but...

How do i make my rear rack / basket more shock absorbing for food delivery?

Unless you're hauling raw eggs, I believe you're over thinking this. I regularly bring a eggs home in my basket and have never broken one. I do use a stretchy cargo net meant for motorcycles to keep everything in the basket, but I've never had any damaged while riding.

    Excuses to Ride

I often come up with errands that I need to run just to ride. A few days ago I realized we were out of wiper fluid. Ran down to my friendly parts shop and bought a case of 6 bottles. 50lbs in the rear basket and took a different way home to avoid a very steep hill. I go to a local farmer's...

Is this the craziest bike race crash?

Many years ago when I was working 3rd shift, a new female DJ, fresh out of college was working her first night. An hour into her shift she says "Hey, I've been thinking of getting a tattoo, give me a call and tell me what I should get". Like a shot I was up and dialing the phone, got on the...
