I rarely leave my bike unattended but did have one stolen out of a garage I carelessly left open. My homeowners insurance was ready to pay replacement value for it within two weeks but fortunately the police recovered it.

The chain on my Trek Super Commuter was constantly dropping into the small space between the chainring and the motor. I bolted a large washer to the inside of the chainring guard to fill the space. The chain has never dropped again in at least 20,000 miles.

The only issues I have had are with wear parts like wheels, chains and brake pads. I also have an XM 700 that I let friends ride, it has 11,000 maintenance free miles on the motor.

I have a 2018 Super Commuter with 33,000 miles on it. Battery life is probably 10-20% less than new. You can always buy another battery, I always ride with more than one. Great bike!
