Best color you like for the ebike

I ride on streets and 55 mph highways, so I like to be seen. My bike is bright green, but yellow would have done as well. I wear a yellow-green ANSI-2 construction vest with reflective stripes. My helmet is white with yellow letters on it. The panniers only come in black maroon and brown, I...

Ready To Buy ... I Think Ive Narrowed It Down??

One advantage of the shimano drive you bought, if you want to ride it without electric assist, you do NOT drag the motor with your feet. As you get stronger and on your way home with a cool one waiting, you can exert yourself a little, or to the max. May your bid for reliability and long life...

Ready To Buy ... I Think Ive Narrowed It Down??

Bosch, shimano, bafang may refuse to sell mid drives into the Australian market due to the stupid 250 w rule. With my outlaw 1000 w Mac12t geared hub motor, I managed a blistering 9 mph when I was in shape in Septembers. I do NOT want a Bosch mid-drive, they spin the motor with your feet...

Ready To Buy ... I Think Ive Narrowed It Down??

So you are commuting possibly 4000 miles per year? I would like to compare that to the average 2000 miles I have gotten out of 5 geared hub motors. One 1300 watt one wore out the gears at ~4500 miles. Two shorted the windings due to excessive heat on a hill 25 miles from home, one rated 350...

Ready To Buy ... I Think Ive Narrowed It Down??

A thing you cannot tell from a features list or a picture, is what quality of parts the vendor is buying. There is "steel" made of old car batteries, copper wire and zinc, and there is "steel" made of iron carbon and molybidinum or vanadium. The first type stretches or fractures, the latter is...

My bike with “130nm” can’t keep up with a trike with 90nm??

Torque multiplied by gear ratio and divided by wheel radius equals force on the ground from the tire. Hill climbing ability compares the power of the motor to the number of foot pounds per hour the total weight and total distance lifted required. Quoted torques are not at any particular RPM...

    KT controller without display

I just bought a KT36/48ZWSRM-ff01 controller. 22+-1A max. It has a display connector, 5 pin rectangular. It was not offered with a display. Will it operate without the display? Will it operate without the PAS sensor? Previous controllers except ebikeling had a door switch input that had to be...

INTERNAL PARTS AVAILABLE FOR REAR HUB MOTOR?

The clutch housing also has the 3 pivots for the 3 gears. It is about 1/4" thick, about diameter just small enough to clear the ringgear. Most motors clutch is on the opposite side from the coils, but the first version of my Mac12t had the clutch between the coils and the wire exit by the shaft.

    Clothing complaint

I can blame anybody I choose. I have seen police cars parked at the intersection of Hwy 62 and Logistics+Salem road near Amazon shift change time. That could inhibit red light running. There is no place to park out where the cars are cresting hills at 70 mph. Perps here do not go to jail for...

INTERNAL PARTS AVAILABLE FOR REAR HUB MOTOR?

I got my money back for the battery I bought from Amazon. Seller was btrbattery. Voltage would collapse to 7 anytime I drew more than 50 watts. You can check for a steel fork with a magnet. No, do not install a hub motor in a carbon or aluminum front fork.

Welcome to the site. I would like to ride there but Amtrak has just outlawed my battery.

INTERNAL PARTS AVAILABLE FOR REAR HUB MOTOR?

ebikes.ca has a good reputation. I do not use them because of border problems especially if aluminum parts are used. Be sure your bike has a steel front fork before using a front hub. Be sure to use a torque arm. I use front geared hub motors.

    Blown controller on Totem CS-240

Lots of people like the KT controller. I mostly have been buying generic controllers made for scooters, since ebay prioritizes lower price products, even if they are shipped from 6000 miles away. I have never had a name for the black connectors, until the KT datasheet came with a new controller...

    Clothing complaint

Amazon piece rate freight is 50% higher than UPS surface and up to 200% higher than USPS. I have not bought from Amazon since April 2021. I do not need items the same day. Two roads on the way to Amazon warehouse have become death traps for bicycles in the 15 minutes before report time. I can...

    Blown controller on Totem CS-240

That controller has a bad case of moisture damage. Probable an internal short on a board surface. Replace it. You should match the intended voltage and approximate the current rating. As 36 v 14 A. Slightly larger current is okay, but I would not go over 22 A. Many replacement controllers...

    Clothing complaint

Up until 2000 US sizes were guided by DOD sizes, which were the standard. Now everything is guess???? Be sure to buy online so you have to pay freight going to exchange. Amazon loves this. I won't buy Amazon's stupid soap operas to get free freight. Their drivers are a hazard to bicyclists...

INTERNAL PARTS AVAILABLE FOR REAR HUB MOTOR?

In general parts are not available. Spare gear sets were available at one time for 500 w bafang. I have one geared hub with bad gears, one with a bad clutch, one with a shorted winding because underpowered. Nothing interchanges. You can sometimes repair a blown hall effect sensor or...

    First Flat!

Since i ripped a sidewall and pushed 40 lb of groceries 7 miles at 94 F, I carry a spare tire. I already had 2 tubes, sometimes the first one blows up. Panaracer firexcpro comes folded flat. https://www.modernbike.com/panaracer-fire-xc-pro-tubeless-compatible-26-x-2.1-black Not an ideal tire...

    First Flat!

Flat out slime etc plugs up the valve stem in a year or two where you can no longer add air. Been there, done that. Had to cut the stem of the tube to get it out. Tubeless means you cannot change the tire on the road, you need a shop. My hands are not nearly as strong as they were when I was...

Why such big, hard cotter pins for brake pads?

The adjectives ultra tough and durable come free. The $9.99 price ought to tell you something. The Ican looks just like a real tool. The Channellock 8" cutters are $45, the Klein are $48.
