    Shifting Gears

    Thy are easily bent and can be bent back in shape quite easily. They can get bent in a bike rack. My new bike was packed very nicely with no box damage and it was still bent quite a bit. There is a tool for straightening them.

    I have the Brose 90 NM motor in may Ride1Up and it too is completely silent. I appreciate that and the smooth power delivery more can I can explain, especially after having two bikes with whinie motors and bad power delivery.

    In view of the glut of new bikes on the market with huge price reductions my opinion is that is too much money for any used bike.

    I put a visor on my helmet and it does the job. The part I don't like is unless you keep your head up it blocks the view ahead of you and cause a stiff neck. Maybe a flip up is the solution.

    Power loss Surface 604 Colt

    My bike , not a Surface 604 but had a similar problem. It turned out to be a plug that came apart a tiny bit that could hardly be seen. They can be tight and hard to get plugged in completely. Plugging and unplugging can help if there is a bit of corrosion too.

    Look around the nail polish selection and you may find a color that will work. Auto supply store have endless variety of colors of touch up paints.

    Seeing you are starting from scratch and can pick the bike just remember, the bigger and wider your tires the better the sand flotation will be. IGH and belt to be sure.

    What motivates you to add a dropper post to your gravel bike?

    I too would like to add dropper seat post to my bicycle so I cloud put a foot on the ground at stops but it would be too high with my Kinekt suspension seat.

    So you guys (and gals) might be right.

    This is sort of what we experienced as young men was that our cars did not go faster by going to overdrive but in fact would slow down. Diminishing returns for gearing up.

    I too would like to have a decent quality mid drive ebike with a throttle. I have owned hub drive bikes with throttles and know that the way they work is very different. One of them had a very nice progressive/linear operation and was pleasant to use. One was so bad regarding the power...

    Fixing geared hubs with a hammer

    When I was young guy my wife worked in a factory in Chicago building small electric motors. When the motors were complete they would give them a whack with a hammer to neutralize the alignment of the bearings to the shaft.
