I think it has caused a rash of misspellings.

    Hub Motor Axel Seized up

Magnets could be another issue. Especially if a couple came loose and that would lock the armature to the housing. A cassette doesn't have any work to do, the gears just sit there. I assume you meant the freewheel?

Trek apparently no longer selling to independent dealers

Happened here about 2 years ago. A Trek store came in and the local sport/bicycle store stopped selling them. Trek store is great. I doubt if the Trek shop will order in Bosch motor parts, Bosch usually sends a new motor.

Broke my chain into two pieces? WTF

Why not shut if off when walking in a building? You don't plan on riding inside do you?

Broke my chain into two pieces? WTF

One link hole is now a slot. I've never seen that. What brand is the chain? Do you shift under high load from the motor? Does it bang when you shift? Just noticed that pins are about to fall out of that chain segment sitting on the spoke. That chain has seen a ton of abuse!

Replace the sprag clutch. If you have a geared hub motor and the freewheel on the gear set is okay.

    Modifying my e-bike seats

While we are at it, there is no crankshaft on a bicycle. It's called a bottom bracket and spindle, or just bottom bracket.

Replace it, if it really is the clutch on the planetary carrier. Did you check the freewheel?

    Upgrading the Revi Cheetah battery?

It's a known issue that bike shops won't work on internet only sales eBikes. Just no benefit for them and I agree with them. If you want service you buy what the shop sells. I would like to see name brand cells in the battery packs I buy.

This is my recumbent sun electric bike trike

When the motor is spinning, the pedals are too? I can't figure out where the freewheel is at. Must have a really large turning radius, looks like the front wheel can hit the pedal.

    52 volt battery

Most consider staying in the range of 20-80%. I've never gone below 6%, but go to 100% all the time on my Bosch batteries in 6 years. Brand of battery makes a difference.

    Crash today on black ice

I did the same thing about 3 years ago. I hurt my shoulder, but didn't go to the hospital. 3 weeks latter it was still hurting and I then knew I should have gone. It took 9 months to completely stop hurting. Lesson learned! Heal quickly!

Better to downshift for stops (shifter wear & tear) or not (chain strain)?

What does retirement have to do with shifting? I've been retired for almost 9 years and didn't start riding until 3 years into my retirement. First it was getting an eBike because people didn't want to sweat, now it's because they don't want to shift. Pretty soon riders will want autonomous...

How important is having a local bike shop?

How good are you at troubleshooting electrical systems? If you are good at it, buy anywhere. Not so good, then it's great to have a local shop for check ups, diagnostics, and warranty claims.

Riding Mid Drive on only highest gear

Engineers can't imagine every situation that the general public can do to a product. I was an engineer at Caterpillar. No matter what we did, some owner could still destroy parts by some method. One customer kept destroying the bucket linkage on his loader. A site visit revealed that operators...
