How Often Do You Replace Your E-Bike Battery?

I have 7 batteries, 4 of which were purchased in 2018. all are still in use and have over 90% of their original capacity. My maintenance strategy is pretty generic and similar to what has already been posted: Store at 40 to 60%. with temps between 50 and 80 degrees F. Never charge below 40F or...

    Hello from Cape Cod

I used to get out your way to ride the Cape Cod Trail, Shining Sea Trail, Cape Cod Canal MUP's and the dune trails at Cape Cod National Seashore. Back in 2022, there was a crackdown on e-bikes using these trails. When I checked out the newly rebuilt trailhead in Dennis, I was asked to leave by a...

    xt 30 connector voltage

It's been my experience that good quality lithium batteries don't fail catastrophically unless mistreated. They simply lose capacity with time and the number of charge cycles. I have a couple of 8 year olds that are down to just over half their original capacity but still functional. I use them...

Electric Bicycle Touring for Beginners – 8 Bike Touring Tips

Welcome to the forum! All good advice, thanks for posting. One thing I can add is to check the locations where you plan to stay. Many campgrounds have electrical hookups that can be used for charging, but some do not. If you're staying in hotels, check to see if they permit you to take your...

    Phone won't charge from bike

I've noticed on my bikes anyway, that the state of charge of the bike battery will affect the output of these USB ports. You may get better results with a fully charged bike battery.

    Phone won't charge from bike

The USB ports on all three of my bikes are rated at .5A. I get the same error message when trying to charge my iPhone 16 Pro. No issues with my old iPhone Xs or much older iPhone 5. I also have the same issues when trying to power a GPS receiver. As previously stated, it appears to be a...

    Verve shock stem

Welcome to the forum! Hope this helps. It appears the bike is fitted with an adjustable quill stem like this one: You'll have to replace it with a threadless quill adapter such as this if you want to use that suspension stem...

Bikes in the Age of Tariffs

If this tariff turmoil keeps hitting my portfolio like it has been lately, I may be selling my e-bikes to buy food!

Whom pays for your charge ?

Why not sneak into the neighbors garage and charge there. That way, there is no risk of fire at your place and you don't even need the extension cord!

Whom pays for your charge ?

Years ago, I installed electric service to one of my barns so I could put up a dusk to dawn lamp. Recently, I replaced it with an LED lamp. As a result. the lamp doesn't use the minimum KWH billed, so I store and charge my bikes in the building. Not exactly free but it doesn't cost anything...

    Li-ion Battery experiences

Interesting thread. Thanks for posting. I've had similar issues with my DeWalt tool batteries. It seems that battery makers uses different charging & monitoring schemes. With DeWalt for example, the low voltage cutoff is in the tool, not the battery BMS. I usually don't have issues when...

    SCHWALBE MARATHON PLUS TYRES

+1 on the Marathon+ I've had great results while using them for trail riding on all my bikes since 2018. The center tread does tend to wear after 1K miles or so, but it doesn't affect traction in gravel and actually makes them quieter on pavement.

Can An EBike Travel On A Bike Rack In The Rain?

I use these arm protector sleeves: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089K2JLGK?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_18 They're waterproof and cover the entire bar end including the display, brake, shift and throttle controls. They install in seconds and are resistant to wind damage.

    Schwalbe Tyre Problem

Have you checked to see if the tire is balanced? Is the rim bent or out of true? This can be an issue, especially if you use sealant in your tubes. Welcome to the forum and please keep us posted on the problem.

Removeing throttle to be compliant and responsible

I've been looking for an easily removeable throttle for those class 1 only MUPs, and came up with this idea: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CR7W541Z?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 Performance is very smooth with no flat spots or cutouts. Uses a yellow 3 pin male Juliet connector and was...

    Rechargeable inflator

I also have this Fumpa air pump for portable use: https://www.fumpapumps.com/collections/fumpa-pumps Pricey but well made. It has a press on valve with very little air loss when released. It can be difficult to use in tight spaces though.

    My modified van bike holders

Nice build and a great idea! What vehicle is it? IMO, there's no better way to carry a bike than inside a closed vehicle. I'd dearly love to find a van with enough roof clearance to fit my high stem bikes. I log several thousand miles per season riding trails all over the eastern US. As a...
