Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Sounds delightful but can you tell me what “pleased me as the place was manic” means? You like busy places, I assume?

These ebikes are tougher than we think.

No. My Purion on my Rail 5 is the same as on my Allant+7. That’s the display used on many of the Trek emtbs. If by elements you meant outdoors, sure. If you mean in the rain/snow, no thanks. 🥶⚡️⛈💨 Not on purpose anyway!

I have "mountainized" my Vado 5.0/6.0: Practical conclusions

How did I get involved in this?! My normal workout ride of 27 miles includes an elevation gain of 1,205 feet. Certainly no mountains but quite a number of hills AND headwinds. I’ve never felt the need to mess with the Allant+7 gearing but then leg power has never been an issue for me and I often...

These ebikes are tougher than we think.

Well, I was sold just as much on the toughness of them after my incident described above. That said, I’m never going to do a 45 mph highly technical decent…at least not on purpose!😳 The good news is that you are equipped with two sets of brakes.😉 I spent years rock climbing and repelling out in...

BTW…I also found this rock was lodged in between the chain guard and the frame. Fortunately, it didn’t cause any problems either!

How does one get into mountain biking?

0 I used to jump my Yamaha 400 Enduro but only in a few specific places and when I was in my 20’s. I’d be willing to jump my Rail 5 but only in a few specific places!

These ebikes are tougher than we think.

I agree they are tough! Had my Rail 5 out on some single track this last weekend and we (Rail and me!) were involved in more than one fall down the steep hill! On one of them, (the last one of them!) I found that the Rail had a very thick stick stuck in between the front brake rotor and the...

    Trek Rail 5 (2021) thoughts

I’m not worried. Actually very glad I didn’t get injured or screw the Rail up somehow. The most concerned was when I rolled down the hill a bit and the bike had a sizable stick stuck between the brake rotor and the spokes. I carefully extracted it and carefully walked it back up the hill. 😎

    Trek Rail 5 (2021) thoughts

Recent other uses and musings… Got a fantastic full service weekend from the Rail 5. Rode 27 miles of the Root River paved trail in S.E. Minnesota. Followed up the next day with a great series of mtb trails in N.E. Iowa including some single track. Being a emtb noob I have a lot to learn but the...

Introduction and Input on Allant + 9.9S

I found a Rail 5 medium a month or so ago just by dumb luck searching on large sports store website. There were two of them nationwide in their system. Scheels was the name. One was in Dallas and the other was in Minnesota. I called a store and found out where they were, called that store and...

Importance of buying from a local bike shop

I’ve been lucky to have a great network of Midwest Trek dealers all around me and in many areas I travel to. They’ve always been willing to talk and take on any issues I’ve had, which so far have not been at all serious. It was very important that I liked and chose Trek, however, as I rarely see...

Got a full service weekend from the Rail 5.

The Root River trail is a great 60 mile paved trail in southeastern Minnesota. The Van Peenen trail area has a wide variety of MTB and other milder trails in N.E. Iowa. I just need to learn the trails so I don’t get lost!
