Incidence, type and age demographics of ebike related injury

So a urologist wrote a letter about US emergency department data on ebikes and didn't declare the potential conflict of interest related to seat choices by ebike vs mebike riders ?

Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

So the police are still investigating? But they have already been given the power to confiscate these motorbikes? Would it be reasonable to assume that if the police believed this ban was justified, every one of these kids would be walking by now? Even one cop who believed in this would be...

To the "Karens", and the "Carls" out there😂 Those riding dirty too.

I've never understood why it's "leur" De ( the?) Rail ( ok, that's sort of an alignment thing) But why the personal pronoun ? Particularly when you consider a derailer is indirectly moving the chain off it's cog from the impersonal / indirect side? Is this a Carl or Karen thing?

For rant about whiners , it galvanized the hardtails, fixers, AND derailers . The perfect brake?

Should We Eliminate the Time Change?

Do you guys have penalty rates for employed staff who work at unsociable hours? A dairy herd knows exactly what time it gets milked at, they don't care if the clocks are wrong.

20 years ago I was staying at a friends house in Margaret River ( an Australian wine region) . I mentioned not liking wine and he decided to change my mind. He opened two bottles a night for a week from his amazing cellar, gave me a blind taste and asked what I thought. Each night he'd slump...

imagine living in a world where ancient text dictated public behaviour. Women are hidden from sight, stoned to death. The rest of the world looks on in horror. Now look in a mirror

    Rental cycle helmets

We recently arrived at a mtb resort and discovered my son had left his lid 5 hours drive away ) . I borrowed a rental bike lid , but even though I knew it had been cleaned after last use, I couldn't be sure it'd never been crashed in. I found myself halfway down the first run and questioning...

Upgrading Vado SL Shimano Drivetrain From 10 to 12-speed

The lower quality sram shifters like nx and I think eagle can shift up to 3 at a time, I can't remember which of our bikes has it. ( I prefer single shift so I'm not jumping too many cogs / wrecking cassettes and chains) It's funny, we rarely chew out the small cogs on mountain bikes - it's...

Upgrading Vado SL Shimano Drivetrain From 10 to 12-speed

I thought you were looking into gaerbaruk? Yes, you can get them to fit the HG hub, and I think they even do a 10 tooth hg compatible ( I'm too lazy to go out and count what's on my lsl) It's at least 400 gms lighter than the sram nx, but more importantly, it's really hard to get perfect...

In that case - I've got a polish part on my specialized! Awesome cassette - an absolute work of art, machined to perfection, ultralight and so far lasting better than the "american "sram boat anchor it replaced - it it saved a LOT of unsprung weight ! ( about 400 gms!)

Pitty , because you'd find a decent ebike a LOT more capable than an XL 150 ! These might be the laws in your little corner , but there is a whole wide world of opportunity out there - including mystical places where the government BUILDS emtb trails on public land. AND other places where...

Fancy Soft or hard shell armor (possibly with airbag?) for ebike rider (20-30mph)

I've watch a mate slide down the road in their darien suit, he was on the wrong side of 100 k and escaped without a scratch! Great gear.

    Electric Car thread

Unfortunately a few years away from Australia , and possibly a bit bigger than I want. I currently use a ford ranger for dragging the boat and dislike the relatively long wheelbase / turning circle. We live rural, but some tighter 4x4 tracks are hard to negotiate

    Electric Car thread

BTW , I'm back here again trying to see if there is an EV yet that can tow a 2 tonne boat up a ramp then 50 metres to where it is parked. But not be some massive ego statement

    Electric Car thread

Someone is confused. If a 2 yo vehicle on finance costs more than a new one, there are explanations that make a LOT more sense than the sales guys fuzzy logic: Used prices were elevated due to supply issues and the moron still hasn't caught up? Or, more likely, manufacturer / govt...

    Hot grips?

You can always put on extra clothing to deal with the cold, but there's only so much you can remove in the heat. I try and avoid hard riding over 40 c

    Hot grips?

Search for universal motorcycle grip heater pad. They are elements on a mylar tape that you put under the grips, when you put 12 v across them they get hot, so on the motorbikes we usually run a 2 stage switch / resister for low setting. I imagine a more sophisticated dial would be better...

New Jersey Would Be Foolish To Require E-Bike Insurance & Registration

Two interesting points. I'd like to challenge the first , but explore the second. This may be a cultural thing, but I find young people CAN make good choices / act responsibly if they are encouraged to do so. There's no magical age of responsibility, and in my experience delaying the process...
