This is true, which is why I assume Deacon will swap pedals with those from another bike in his fleet or use pedals from his spare parts bin.

Dave has a good suggestion to see if you can trigger the sound without assist. Check the bolts holding the chainring to the spider - if one is a bit loose it can make a ticking sound at the same spot. Maybe try swapping pedals too

I think your bike came with 175mm cranks, you might consider going to a shorter crank. I switched the cranks on my Desert Falcon to 172.5mm and it helped. Actually wished I had gone to 170mm
