So I accidentally fixed the big creak by adjusting the saddle. I am still tweaking things and one of the adjusters was a bit loose when I was adjusting. Today no creak! I will look into the battery issue. I don't have it yet but the mitigations are simple enough.

I thought the TCU firmware could be done from the app (but not the motor or battery)? Pretty sure I did it on my Vado 4 (not SL).

People are suggesting mid drive and I usually do too but if you have the same hills in your commute I wonder if it is worth a hub motor to get some regen power back going down the hill? Maybe even retrofit your favorite commute bike style with a front wheel kit?

Also get a "dashcam". I use a motorcycle DVR with 2 cameras for front and back and also sound. So far I only use it to share the derps it could be evidence if something serious happens. In your case it would be something tangible to share with police (and the local facebook groups...).

I take it you are not here now? FYI the Rockingham trail now goes from Manchester to around Exeter and I believe they are extending it into Pease and maybe Portsmouth.

Yeh if it had that version I probably would have kept it on there. But for my uses it isn't worth buying a new one.

The shop gave me a free Gazelle baseball cap. I rarely wear caps and figured someone else would enjoy it more. It is a dark Navy blue better than average cap with Gazelle embroidered on it. The first person who can pick it up in Nashua NH can have it or if no takers then I will mail it (US only).

I really didn't want to have to worry about the key, either having with me to bike or take it with me when I leave the bike. Having to leave the key in while riding is a big misfeature. If I use my cable lock and forget to take the key the someone could A) lock the bike and steal the key and...

Thanks. This is the Gazelle dealer installed option? I've seen splitter cables and Bosch sells some kits as well. I am curious to add this and trying to understand if it is worth $200 if I can do it myself with parts from ebay or Bosch.

How does the extra battery attach? It looks like a wire into the left side of the motor housing?

Any idea why they have belt drive for the Vado 3 and the 5 but not the 4? I love my Vado 4 and was looking to move to IGH and belt. The 3 gave up performance and the 5 is heavy and expensive. It also has an automatic shifter which I don't think I want. I ended up with a Gazelle Ultimate 380+.

I just bought a 380+ yesterday and they shop has to enable the option in the firmware (at the same time they check/update the firmware). As others have pointed out in the Netherlands or EU they have to be enabled all the time. As for power it uses 5-10 watts so in 10 hours of riding the lights...
