    Which Crank Puller?

Just short of ordering a new crank puller, I just watched a You Tube video where you can use your square taper puller in combination with the crank bolt with the plastic collar removed. Worked like a charm! The crank arm pulled right off. This idea was absolutely brilliant!

    Which Crank Puller?

All I have at the moment is a Park square taper puller. Which puller do I need for my Performance Line CX ? Would an Octalink puller work?

    Some bicycle travel tips

You can try to convince the camp host that the thing down there is a pinion gear box, and not a motor… :)

    Camping Gear!

As far as headlamps go, I need a single button/switch only headlamp. My fingertips over the years have gone a little numb so I can’t sometimes feel what I’m pressing. And another criteria is the headlamp needs to turn on to low red or low green, initially, and no cycling through the...

    Camping Gear!

How do you like the Pinion Bivy? I have a couple of UL tarps I use with my hammock so this might work. My latest headlamp is the NEBO RED. It’s their red light only lamp, tiny, and USB rechargeable. I have their green light only version as well.

Not asking, just making a point.

I’m new to this forum and this place is no different than any other dozen or so forums I belong to. We see people like the OP in all those forums I participate in…. For instance, I’ve been a BikeForum member for over 20 years and I’ve seen people like that come and go over the years…

    Cooking on Tour

Trying out my new GSI Coffee Rocket at a recent overnighter at a local trail camp. I typically brew 2 to 3 cups of coffee at camp.

    Cooking on Tour

Mr Coffee, on post #69, posted a link to the fuel adapter. It’s a simple adapter that allows you to transfer fuel between canisters, typically, from a larger canister to smaller.

    Cooking on Tour

I backpack more frequently than I bikepack, and as far as canisters go, I’ve been refilling or topping off my 100g canisters before each trip with either isobutane or from 8oz butane cartridges that I find at local Asian markets for $1.50 ea. I’ve turned dozens of people into refilling their...

    My first e-bike build

Again, thank you for all the inspiring replies! So, instead of a build kit, I decided to get a complete e-bike as my first so I can learn something from it as I tinker along. I got myself a new Canyon Pathlite ON SUV. So far, it’s been a blast to ride these past few days I’ve owned it...

First (Slow) Blowout 5+ miles from Home

Just got my first ever e-bike. Among the several changes I immediately made to the bike were going tubeless. Rims and tires that came with the bike were tubeless ready to begin with. I had everything else to make the change as I run tubeless on my other bikes. But I do carry a small...

    Thinking outside the pannier

I have titanium pots in several different sizes but I always keep coming back to my heavy, old, MSR 750ml stowaway SS pot. Perfect size for gourmet ramen, Tasty Bites, instant mashed potatoes, grilling sausages, etc…

    Thinking outside the pannier

As for the rear panniers I use Ortleib Gravel Packs, 12 liters each, and reasonably priced. Got them from REI, on sale for about $130 for the pair. The mounts are pretty solid.

Bull's 4th gen Bosch first ride very limited power uphill.

Just got my Canyon with Bosch Performance Line CX. Download the app on my phone, everything set at default. This is my first ever e-bike so I can‘t compare it to anything else. But I am amazed at how well it climbs on steep hills, on setting just above the eco mode. But of course, I’m...

Pathlite ON 5 SUV wheel size?

So, I ordered the bike on Tuesday morning and it was delivered this morning. Wasn’t expecting a 24 hr delivery service…:))

Pathlite ON 5 SUV wheel size?

I didn’t want to go 29 as my 2 other mtbs (non e-bikes) are 27.5‘s. Besides, with my height and inseam, I ride a small frame and a 29’er just seems out of proportion…

Pathlite ON 5 SUV wheel size?

That’s exactly the first thing I did, looked at the label on the tire. But in the specs it mentions 29… Anyhow, I received a reply from Canyon this afternoon and they state that it is indeed 27.5 and the motor is their Performance Line Speed Motor, and not the CX….

Pathlite ON 5 SUV wheel size?

29 or 27.5. Their description page is not clear as to which wheel size is spec’d. Perhaps depends on frame size? Anyone know? I’ve asked them directly, no reply…

    My first e-bike build

Original poster here. So as not to deal with chain line and narrow, 12-speed Shimano chain issues, I am now looking to run single speed on my Microspline hub wheel. Running SS, I can practically run any chain and fine tune my chain line. Ive built and ridden single speed and fixed gear...

    My first e-bike build

I agree. My only ‘non-use’ mtb is a late 90’s Dean ti Colonel, hardtail, rigid, which would almost be a perfect candidate, except for that it is non-disc (I feel much safer with discs on a loaded rig) and that it has no rack braze-ons.
