    Bafang 500W front hub system

These Bafang kits on Amazon are typically supplied by Bluenergy and sold through vendors Greenergia, Junstar, and possibly others. https://www.aliexpress.com/store/3746031 We have three - all rear hubs. Two 500W and one 250W. One has close to 4000 miles ridden. At 45 newton meters these...

    Bafang 500W front hub system

I have a SW102 and a DPC18. I like the remote keypad of the DPC18 as it is easy to tap up and down through the PAS levels on demand. Overall, I prefer the SW102 for its compact size. Both displays are difficult to see in direct sunlight, but otherwise well illuminated.

Can I DIY my bike into an ebike if I have never DIY'd anything before?

I've converted three bikes with this Bafang kit and between them have more than 5000 miles ridden. https://www.amazon.com/BAFANG-Electric-Conversion-Bicycle-Gearshift/dp/B07RBKN8CZ/ @Browneye 's experience with the bum motor seems to be an outlier. His Specialized conversion was done with...

    Gearing Swap - Suggestions

You need more chain. Assuming clockwise rotation, 90 degrees would be fine while on the 32t, but you should also measure for slack when on 11t. Make a long chain. Then use a piece of coat hanger to connect links and test tension at different lengths on 11 and 32. You'll find a sweet spot...

Not really diy more like a complete upgrade

You've got it! Freewheels and Cassettes is shorthand for a threaded freewheel with integrated cogs (Freewheels) and freewheel hubs which accept changeable cassettes (Cassettes).

Not really diy more like a complete upgrade

As far as groupsets go, Tourney is at the bottom, then comes Altus, then Acera. And I don't think any of those will support a 40t rear cog. Look for motors that integrate an 8-speed freewheel hub - not the threaded freewheel kind. A freewheel hub will accept cassettes and that will give...

    Joyisi battery

The brand cell loadings are by listing and size. So, some Joyisi batteries are loaded with Chinese domestic, while others brand cells - typically LG or Samsung. You have to check the listing for your size and cell brand. I was careful to choose a battery with LG and it was priced higher. While...

    Radmini 4 Bent Spokes

You can get pretty close by measuring with a taut string down the length of the spoke. Then measure the string against a metric ruler. You can be off by a few millimeters and still ok. Also, measure a spoke on the same side as the one you want to replace as they can be different lengths...

    Radmini 4 Bent Spokes

It happens. But usually only one or two. The spokes are loose and need to be tightened. You'll need a spoke wrench and tighten slow (1/4 turn each step) while moving between spokes and sides. This ensures the wheel is tightened evenly. Otherwise, it will get out of true. And before you...

    Joyisi battery

I've been running this 48v/13Ah Joyisi battery equipped with LG M26 cells (13s5p) since December 2018. https://www.amazon.com/Joyisi-Battery-Lithium-Samsung-Electric/dp/B07F2KRWSV/ It's been a solid performer for over 4000 miles. I move it between my Electra Townie and Mongoose Envoy...

mid drives are not for everyone/throttles are fine

Indeed. Members should follow one rule. This is an e-bike enthusiast forum. If you can't show enthusiasm for the topic or provide helpful information (i.e. how to install/repair or troubleshoot this or that) then don't post. Those negative posts don't provide value. I'm a throttle...

    Converting townie with Bafang

I converted my Townie to electric in 2018. I've logged over 2500 miles - though today I mostly ride an electric Mongoose Envoy. https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/electra-townie-conversion-with-kit-from-bluenergy.26457/ The bike will hold up just fine and you don't need disc brakes...

    SUGGESTIONS TO BIKE MANUFACTURERS:

The query is divisive from the get-go. And uses CAPS. A better response would be first in broad strokes with a discussion of the 'invisible hand', 'managed versus free market economics', unintended consequences, picking winners, and discouraging innovation. The TLDR version is that one...
