Having just taken delivery of my Vado 4.0, it struck me while setting it up that perhaps the “anti-theft” featurette wasn’t that Mission Control would only allow the paired owner to tweak the assist mode percentages.

iOS 13.5.1 (most up to date) on an iPhone 8 (c. 2018). Pairing the Vado was harder than any other thing I ever paired. And I’ve paired plenty of things. Bluetooth is a funny beast: 10-m radio broadcast! But it’s been made commercially viable.

A Vado 4.0 that was in stock and paid for on May 14 is still en route from Salt Lake City to Sacramento as of end of business on May 28. I‘m starting to hear Carly Simon’s Heinz Ketchup commercial rendition of “Anticipation”.

We may have to settle for whirled peas. But it would be nice if Specialized could find it in their hearts to always offer something bright.

Indeed. MIPS was buried behind all the more flashy (!) new features. But it does get mentioned in the latest promos. In the early bird pricing, MIPS kicks the price from $75 to $99.

Dealers are ordering items that show as “in stock” at the SLC facility. I don’t think they can order anything not in stock. And since we’re at the end of the model year, the 2020 run of product is done. Manufacturing delays could account for backups on the Vado SL, but not 3s, 4s, or 5s.

LBS says they've offered to rent a truck to deadhead from California to Specialized's Salt Lake City distribution warehouse to get product moving, Distribution is constipated since the 5.7 earthquake March 18. Orders are piling up but product is not moving. Anyone here with deeper insight?
