Giant Fastroads- battery cuts out issue

I had the same issue with my 2021 Fastroad, that I traded in at no cost for a Trek Allant 8s. The shop could never figure out why the bike was shutting off. It only had roughly 400 miles on it, and I loved the looks of that bike. Seems like Giant has not identified the gremlins yet for this...

2022 Vado 4 Review (after 1000 miles of ownership)

Yes. I owned 3 Giants and they were good bikes, and I loved the Fastroad initially, but after about 400 miles, the motor would just cut out, so I had to return it. After a month of chasing down a Giant rep, to no avail, the LBS offered the Trek 8s, which I took. The other 2 Giant ebikes were...

2022 Vado 4 Review (after 1000 miles of ownership)

Understood. Folks think there is only hype around how good and well engineered Specialized bikes are. I've owned 3 Giant ebikes (Roam, Explorer E+2, and Fastroad), plus my current Trek 8s.....and the Vado is just superior. The other brands are excellent choices, but when you ride this thing...

    2022 Trek 8s First 1000 miles review

I ride with Schwalbe Super Moto X's 2.4 on both the Vado 4 and Trek....and the Vado coasts better...in fact, on my downhill test, it is the faster than the Trek...same tires and rider... :)

    2022 Trek 8s First 1000 miles review

Excellent...I know I was not imagining this. Whatever Specialized is doing with engineering, geometry, and that famed wind tunnel...it is apparently working...not just in the lab. Thanks

2022 Vado 4 Review (after 1000 miles of ownership)

This is my personal opinion of the 2022 Specialized Vado 4, after 1000 miles of ownership. Earlier in 2021, I owned a Vado SL 4.0. That bike was great but didn’t have enough power to really get me up steep hills. Now, on to the Vado 4….what a great bike and a superb piece of engineering. Yes...

    2022 Trek 8s First 1000 miles review

Thanks for the response. A first I thought it was the lack of assist at high speed, but I do own a '22 Vado 4, which has 70 nm of torque. On identical rides, the Vado coasts noticeably faster. I don't feel the motor cut out until it is at 28 mph, and it is more gradual and natural feeling...

    2022 Trek 8s First 1000 miles review

Thanks.....I looked at upgrading, but the cost and the LBS's lack of confidence in doing the work, made me shy away from that option. I am fine using the Garmin.... This bike should last a long time though...motor pulls like a freight train...lol.

    2022 Trek 8s First 1000 miles review

This is my personal opinion of the 2022 Trek 8s, after 1000 miles of ownership. I think the bike is sturdy, well built, and a blast to ride. Although the motor is strong, and surges forward even in Eco mode, it doesn’t coast as well as I think it should, and it seems the speed cuts out at 26.5...

Vado 4.0 SL EQ - is mine a lemon?

I used to own a Vado SL and sold it so that I could purchase the full power Vado 4. The SL gave me about 70 miles in ECO, and roughly 35 miles in Sport. I would surmise I could have gotten 20 in Turbo, but never tested it. Even though the Vado 4 is heavier, it is just a stronger machine, and...

Got 106 miles on Eco from 2020 Vado 4

Very nice. I may try the 10/100% setting in ECO. I usually get 85 to 90 miles out of ECO at the standard 35/35% setting. I am using 40/100 in Sport, which yields roughly 45 miles. Thanks for the insight.

Range Extender for 2022 Vado 4.0

Okay, thanks for the clarification....I was speaking of the full power Vado 4......will just order a second battery. Thanks sir....

Range Extender for 2022 Vado 4.0

Has anyone purchased a range extender for their Vado 4 or 5? If so, did the extender improve the range a significant amount, and were there any drawbacks adding it. I have a Vado 4 and usually get roughly 45 miles out of Sport mode. Looking to get roughly a total of 80 with the extender.

Turbo Vado 650b's , anyone try Schwalbe Super Moto X ?

Yes....I have the Super Moto X on both my Vado 4.0 and Trek Allant 8s.....love those tires. They ride fast, are sturdy at speed, and coast very very well....you will not be sorry if you buy a set.

    Disappointment with Allant 7

That is a good point. My average cadence during any ride, for any length of time is between 80 - 85. The Bosch motor loves 85rpm....just my two cents.

    Disappointment with Allant 7

I have a Trek 8s....and there is never an issue with enough power. This thing is strong....I never ever have to use Sport or Turbo...as Eco and Tour are plenty. Recently I did a 70 mile short tour (4 hours), and arrived home with 30% battery left...all in ECO mode. There were hills on this...

    New Vado 4.0

The white does look awesome. I added Super Moto X tires for the puncture protection I need, and a Basil Trunk bag. The Vado 4 is a great bike, and fast. I ride in ECO mostly, yielding roughly 80 to 90 miles per charge.
