The Ultimate Mid-Drive Chain Care Thread

I know this is a trivial thing but but it bugs me, People saying chain stretch when the fact is bicycle chains don't stretch. They get longer but it is from wear on the pivot points of the chain. Well I got that off my mind

Do cell phone holders damage phones?

I live in the Arizona desert where the sun is hot and powerful enough to severely overheat and damage a cell phone and the battery while i in a bicycle handlebar mount. For this reason and plus the vibration I quit using the mount. It is a great convenience but can be an expensive one.

    machinists don't use torque wrenches

You can use the stretch method on rod bolts. Other than that there aren't t many places you can torque by stretch. I suppose if you work day in and day out on the same bolts and nuts one could get pretty darn good at the feel method for torquing properly. My thought on bolts that go into...

With 125% tariffs, will the e-bike market die?

Eliminating waste is good and should be done more often than it is. It should be done with careful vetting though. Companies and government will always have surges that require hirring additional help during busy times or special programs. Often this help is retained long after the need for...

    Specialized 10% Surcharge

When I bought my Juiced RC way back when they charged me $300.00 tariff. I wasn't happy but they said they couldn't eat it all and had to charge me. I often wondered if the government ever got that $300.00

    Kindernay maintenance.

This is just a thought about the oil being discussed here for the Kindernay hub . Oil for the lower end of outboard motors is a very special high pressure duty oil and may be a good alternative for your hub.

    Melty Battery Connector

This is something one may consider when making electrical connections in wet salty conditions. I live up North in the USA where the roads are very salty especially in the winter. When installing a trailer light connections the only type wire connection that would not corrode in the future was a...

Can someone explain to me e-bike maintenance

Dorkyman, I fully agree with you on solvent stripping away the lubrication from the bearing surfaces of a chain. The solvent has little if any lubricating quality to it so to get new oil/lube into those bearings the new lube would have to strip away the solvent before it can get in and lubricate...

How fast is too fast for you?

How fast is too fast for me, well that depends on many things on a particular day. If I am out to reach a destination far away or I am just out joy riding to see the scenery and smell the roses. whatever the spirit moves me to ride like that day. If I am going down hill on a straight, smooth...

    Newb.

Welcome Tom. I had that same problem with one of my bikes. A weld had slightly melted into the tube and left a high spot. You will have to file or grind it off or it will score the new post too. I could get at the spot with a round file as it wasn't too far down in the tube.

A break cutoff shuts the motor off instantly when the break leaver is applied.

Hydraulic brake upgrade or calliper upgrade?

Regarding brake motor cutoff. I think it depends on the power delivery of the bike on if is necessary or not. One of my bikes would keep delivering power for a bit after I quit peddling for about a second which is dangerous if you have to panic stop. I have a steep driveway and have to keep...

ok,need some help or opinions here

If it is anything like gasoline the price will go up immediately. They don't wait to raise the price till they get the more expensive load. They get a head start and don't lower it until the higher priced gasoline is gone either. It is called capitalisium.

Charging Baterie to maximum all the time.

I can't answer your question but I do normally charge when at 50% to 80% on all of my lithium ion batteries if possible only because the people in the know seem to recommend that. My Question is what do ebike batteries only last such a short time verses auto electric autos lasting 10 plus...

Who has the Smoothest and Natural Torque Sensor Hub Drive

Out of business. I had a Juiced RCS that had a very smooth torque sensing system. You could not tell when it kicked in or shut off without lookin to see if it was using any watts. The good ones are out there but finding one that work well could be a chore.
