Regarding pedaling backwards, you should be able to do this if you have a good chain. I've found, that after a chain stretches, a backwards stroke can cause the chain to come off.

I don't really understand. Mike and Spec are on the 'outs' and now buyers are no longer covered by a warranty? That's a lot of money owed to folks if it's true.

My Vado SL works perfectly as far as I can tell. I wouldn't take a chance updating firmware unless the update has something to do with bike /motor longevity.

It's only cheating on an eBike when you think they don't know it's an eBike. And then you ride up an incline, past a group of female onlookers, going 25mph in turbo like you're Lance. All the time acting like you're in agony. 😉

I keep a small fan in the garage and just point it at the charger when charging the Vado. Keeps the charging brick a lot cooler to the touch and to me - that's got to be a good thing. Haven't had an issue in 90F plus temps.

We'll need an E-bike race in the future as bikes are left behind. Pretty soon, kids bikes will be ebikes as the technology becomes cheaper. Eventually, for instance, Wal-Mart kids bikes will be mostly and then only E-bikes. And then those kids will only buy E-bikes as adults. There will come...

It does seem crazy. With anything there's a bit of risk. So sure, you could not insure and have stolen next day and you lose. That said, if you are a good risk then over time, if you apply this philosophy to self-insure, you'll make a profit just like insurance companies do. Really - folks...

Regarding insurance, if you can afford to replace the bike then it's financially better to go without it. And that's because insurance companies are for profit entities. And they make their money on folks that are the least risky. So, if you're one of those less risky folks you'll 'make money'...

Living in the USA - to avoid haters, I have a jersey that says "US Army". Also wear socks with logo/colors of nearby University sports team. I've been OK since these changes. Still have issues with BMW drivers but there's no shirt/logo that can help with that. Just have to be lucky.

Okay - went to my LBS and I'm on the list for a extra battery. Should be in about a week or so. They didn't mention a cable but I see I need one per Spec web site. Question for anyone that already has an extender - Do I need the 160 or 220 cable? There is a reviewer on the Spec site that says...

I bought a chain with a letter E designation. Said it was a chain made for ebikes - I'm assuming it's stronger than a regular bike chain but I don't know. And the jury is still out on the premature failure of cogs in the rear cassette on the Vado vs a standard bike. You'd need more data...
