Bafang Ultra, new (quiet) steel gears, Canbus Calibration with the K1-Flash worked great!

I would say they are equal now. His gears have a very tiny, almost imperceptable, high pitched whine, noticable through the Sena Bluetooth Helmets. Not significant, his motor sounds much better. He cannot hear anything from my motor through his helmet over his own ambient riding noise. My motor...

Just added an Electric Fat Tad to my stable. Somebody stop me!

In that price range yes. But... I don't like the battery placement (it should be low on the frame, and the fact that it is cadence sensing.

Bafang Ultra, new (quiet) steel gears, Canbus Calibration with the K1-Flash worked great!

Yup, after a few more producton years, some heavy real world usage, lots of good reviews, and a ubiquitous parts inventory, and none of that "proprietary systems" bullshit, I could be tempted,

Changed my mind about my Gear Shift Sensor today - Disconnected it.

I've been riding my Luna Z1 with Bafang Ultra for 2+ years now without the gear shift sensor, and no brake motor cutoffs. No problems.

Mounting a BBSHD in an Ultra frame?

My friend just this weekend installed the quiet gears in his Ultra (CANBUS) which was very noisy. Now his Ultra runs near silent. YMMV.

Bafang Ultra, new (quiet) steel gears, Canbus Calibration with the K1-Flash worked great!

My riding partner has ridden a Sondors Rockstar with a Bafang Ultra (CANBUS) for the last three years. We've been riding together about 4 times per week. I've always teased him about the excessive motor noise that his Ultra Motor makes. We both ride with SENA Bluetooth communicator helmets and I...

    Lower priced e bike

I don't know anything about those bikes, but on thier parts page it looks like they use the "KT" controllers which are ubiquitous and easily sourced. That's a good thing.

    Lower priced e bike

Why don't you share the make, model, and price, and maybe some other members that purchased that make or model can give you some specific insight?

How do you all use your E-BIKES? Do you go out riding with friends or do you enjoy the experience on your own?

I almost ride every day, weather permitting. I ride 70% with my my neighbor who has a comaparable eMTB, and 30% alone.

Installed a Rohloff Speedhub 14, IGH on my mid-drive Luna Z1 Ultra Mag

Hey thaks for the feedback. The hub is sweet and I am stoked every time I ride at how precise the shifting is while riding very agressive mtb trails. Never a missed gear, always the correct gear on demand, whether moving or at a dead stop. Yes I was pleased to see the oil requirements were...

13 months since I added a 2nd battery with a battery balancer. - Works flawlessly.

I added a second battery 13 months ago using this battery balancer from Amazon. I'm using two 48V 17.5Ah batterys for a total of 35Ah's. It has worked flawlessly.

Installed a Rohloff Speedhub 14, IGH on my mid-drive Luna Z1 Ultra Mag

It's been 15 months since I installed the Rohloff hub on my Luna Z1 eMTB. The hub has operated flawlessly without a single adjustment. I really love this hub and could never go back to the ol' derailleur system.

What does it mean when one motor is better than another??

No, there is not, except for you, test driving each bike and motor before buying. I recommend that you purchase from a local LBS. Test drive and compare their offerings.
