    Glad to be here

The Katy Trail is on our bucket list. And so are many others, but I see real benefit in supporting the concept of re-establishing Katy’s economic corridor that was thriving and supported many communities when the iron horse rode the rails. It is coming back via biking enthusiasts. My wife and I...

Police patrol on E-Bikes. OPP - Ontario Canada

Trek built a Police Ranger 12sp E-MTB. https://www.thebicyclestorenj.com/products/trek-police-12-speed-ebike My hometown bought 15 for the Police Dept. In 2019. Trek also didn’t like how their bikes were used as weapons by the police...

    Glad to be here

Welcome to the forum. And yes, you made good choices in your rides. And yes, we all relish the added distance ebikes can provoke. No hill is too high. No road is too long. No wind is too strong. You are on an ebike! (my moniker) Ride long, ride strong. Enjoy! p.s. I have purchased 8...

    pedal pins and cleats

My biking shoes are flip-flops. Seriously. Thousands of miles. When it gets too cold I wear my pickleball court shoes.

Going to document my weight loss

To gain a few pounds I suggested to my Cardiologist that I was going on the All American Drive-Through, Fast Food Diet. It is guaranteed to Super Size you! She said absolutely not!

    pedal pins and cleats

To avoid having my foot slide off the platform pedals on my e-bikes I have changed to MTB pedals on all, and at my wife’s request per the same problem, we changed to MTB pedals on her two e-bikes as well. The MTB pedal pegs work nicely both as a shoe-sole grabber and a shin shredder.

    Rolled over the odometer

Rolling the odometer is nothing new for you high mileage riders, but this was a particularly important milestone for me following neurosurgery to remove 2 brain tumors 5 months ago. I have ridden the last 1,400 miles since surgery, riding with my bride most every day, including yesterday’s 50...

    Crank noise Vado Sl

I had a similar sound from my crank and it turned out to be the sole of my wet shoe rubbing on the crank! Squeak on every revolution, no squeaks while coasting. Mine was a very high tech solution. Ha!

    Well-controlled tire pressure experiment

Rear tire. I was riding at low torque <10mph but must have twisted the tire just enough to blow out. Quite a mess as it spewed sealant all over. <800 miles on PanaRacer GravelKing tire. I have ridden these tires for >3k miles with no problem. Always liked the tires. Earlier in the day I had...

Bike Rack for Trek Verve+4S Lowstep

Pete, I see you are in Superior. I am in Madison. If you cannot locate a beam and it would be worth your trouble, I have 2 beams I don’t use. My brother gave them to me and I never had a need.

Bike Rack for Trek Verve+4S Lowstep

Agree with McCorby above — consider using a Bike Beam. My friend uses them on their step-through bikes on a Hollywood carrier. Otherwise, per a carrier, we carry my wife’s 4s and my two Allants very safely and securely for 2K miles cross country on our Kuat rack. Very quick loading and off...

    Cycling Classic Helmet Visor Brim

My wife and I (and several friends) have the Salamander Beak visor ($25 on Amazon) on several helmets and find it very helpful. Another option I will do on occasion is a baseball cap under the helmet if a rear shade brim is needed.

    Well-controlled tire pressure experiment

I am a fan of tubeless running on the low end of the recommended psi. BUT, after a catastrophic blowout I have learned the benefit of ebike rated sidewalls.

    Who's naked bike riding?

We have an annual naked bike ride in Madison WI that I have been able to elude each year and for evermore. Only the true believers ever know the date.

How do you all use your E-BIKES? Do you go out riding with friends or do you enjoy the experience on your own?

Riding solo and fast has been my preference for years while also riding with or leading groups. Most recently now I ride with my favorite partner: my bride of 53 years. She has always been a climber, now she also chooses the ride and often leads several sections of our rides. We average 16-20...

    Electric Car thread

Anyone reconsidering purchasing a Mercedes Benz EQE after the spontaneous fire the incinerated 40 nearby cars and scorched another 100? Be cautious what battery is onboard. Many property owners’ insurance companies are looking hard at allowing EVs to park on their premises.
