    Ebikes "at work"

I’ve never had a problem in little towns, and my trailer(s) is usually loaded w/ items more valuable than groceries. - a Burley Travoy is an ideal grocery trailer. Easily detached and used for shopping. - another idea is to get permission to bring in your empty trailer and leave it up front...

    Bosch performance motor lifespan?

I just had a 2019 Performance Line Speed (Gen 2) motor failure beginning of January at 10,340 miles. However, I ride the bike all over the US, over all types of terrain and in all kinds of weather, including deserts and severely flooded areas. Plenty of ppl get substantially more miles out of...

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

I rode an ebike in MI from Muskegon to Toledo via Grand Rapids, Lansing and Ann Arbor both 2018 and 2019. No issues, including the trail out of Muskegon and the city trails in Lansing. Rode through Indiana 2x this past summer. Not only did I not have problems, a police officer and police...

    Bosch Bug/Support

Bosch has a toll-free customer support line: 1-833-BOSCH-EB If a software/coding issue, the issue gets sent to engineers in Germany. This is true whether routed through a dealer or one of the techs here on EBR. Could be that the rep on the support line did the same. @JimAndArrow, Germans tend...

Some thoughts on where to stay

My advice: find an RVer who will let you plug in overnite. So many RVers have ebikes -- they get it. I routinely get offers to charge my bike w/o having to ask. You can plug right into the camper or the 20A (household) outlets on the pedestal are usually not in use since RVers use 30A/50A...

Some thoughts on where to stay

CA state parks vary tremendously in terms of outlet availability. They are almost always in bathrooms, but so are suspect types who arrive during the wee hours looking for phones and battery packs getting charged. Some of the parks have no outlets near the "hiker/biker" areas. I would say that...

Your fav trails in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming?

The Montana paths/trails tend to be dominated by ATVs which means rocky washboards. Also, I found (in recent weeks) that some have been closed off with barbed wire, etc. No moose on Trail of the CDA? Mom + young one have been routinely sighted in recent weeks!

    Great American rail trail

You could probably get to Omaha westbound and obviously eastbound fit DC and back very comfortably with time to spare. Probably not worth trying to get to the Cowboy Trail in NE - four trestles are out with no plans to replace. There's not much actual trail available west of Nebraska save WA...

    Rohloff e-14 oil leak

I also experienced this (severe leaking). Larger size drops that ran over the E14 before hitting the floor. 1. Temperature changes played a role, notably from cold outdoors to bringing the bike indoors. Presumably the pressure increased as well. The leaking was most severe after a ride in the...

Any potential rain issues with pre 2020 battery mounts, Bossch drive or Rohloff?

Going to update here. My Intuvia control unit died. I'm on tour and have had daily rain and lots of unavoidable riding in the rain.. To put things in context, the bike has over 5k miles now, and I suspect a hair dryer may bring the old control unit back as it became a bit more responsive under...

    2021–2022 Riese & Müller Homage

Lol. Both the B17 for women and the no longer available Finesse are marketed as shorter/wider at 177mm and 176mm, respectively. Of course, there are so many variations on the B17 we could both be right. The Finesse was described as “based on the B17 Competition.” I own one in green/titanium...

I’ve used several Brooks models on a similar bike (Nevo), upright position, using only a Thudbuster. No problems, no issues with daily riding of 70-200 miles. I used Brooks saddles long before ebikes as well. What I’ve noticed is either ppl love them or hate them. Your wife will know within two...

Has anyone tried a Badass 4 speed unlock?

I’m a bit puzzled by your post. I’ve had my R&M well over 30mph going downhill. In fact, my max speed according to the bike appears to have been 38-39 mph at one point, eek. Even if a bit inflated, it’s still well over 34mph. Gravity wins.

Bosch Class III pedelecs cut out at 26.5 mph

At 28mph, you are getting no assistance. It starts cutting out at 27mph with drop to zero at 28mph. This assumes you have recent vintage firmware as the cutoff was earlier for pre-MY2019. I feel your pain. I was on a bike-legal hwy in CA that required merging to one lane w/no shoulder with...

    Hi

Is your location DC as stated, or does that mean something else? If so, why don‘t you take the bike to Electricity, a Trek dealer or Daily Rider? This is a remarkable event for only 20miles on the bike, so for your own safety you should have it checked out. There have been reports of drive...
