Wow ! That's impressive mileage. What's the terrain like ? I'm assuming that you are pretty fit...?

    What's your range ?

So here's the thing, if you adhere to the 20/80 rule on your battery use, then what ? My actual range drops under 20, but, Easy Motion's estimated minimum range is 45 miles.

    Best bang for the buck

Yes, I agree that the closeouts don't really make it a level playing field...a definite edge for haibikes, if you want a mid-drive. How are the shocks performing on your bike ?

    Best bang for the buck

I have a hard time trying to figure out at what point the cheaper bikes are a false economy... when you look at the shock, drivetrain and brakes. Is it fair to say that the drivetrain quality is less important in a hub-driven bike than it is in a mid-drive ?

    Suntour shocks

I'm noticing that alot of the low-end e-mtbs come with Suntour shocks and wonder how they hold up on trails ?

    Best bang for the buck

Well, if i have to dumb it down, then what's the best 2018 e-mtb under 2k ? Magnum Peak or Surface 604 Shred or ???

    Best bang for the buck

Yep. I agree completely that buying the same bike is the way to go. That's why I broke it down into categories to compare apple to apples. I would prefer full-suspension mid-drive, but cost is a bigger factor when buying multiple bikes.

    Best bang for the buck

Assuming you were purchasing several bikes for rent, and every dollar counts, what is the best value out there for 2018 e-mtbs in these categories ? Full suspension Hardtail Mid-drive Hub-drive

    Mid-drive or Hub motor

I'd like to see the pros and cons of each, especially regarding longevity and reliability. Is the trend toward more mid-drive motors ? Sorry, I see there is a thread already. Feel free to delete.

    Recommendation for large,unfit,new rider

Thanks, that looks like a good choice. Will the hub-driven be as reliable as a mid-drive ?

Q: If I restrict my Class 3 to 20mph is it now a Class 1?

If it has a throttle, I don't think it will be a class one.

Penalty for e-mtb on USFS trails ?

    Anyone know ?

Converting Class 1 eBike to Class 3 eBike

I don't know the trail access situation in Germany, but those types of devices are going to create problems in the U.S. for those of us trying to get class one pedal-assist access on mountain bike trails.

    Recommendation for large,unfit,new rider

I'm helping a friend pick out a bike who is obese, but wanting to change. What is a good choice for a comfort step through under 2k for street use ?

Shift gears or raise and lower levels

I I have basically the same question, except I'm usually alternating between power off and Level one. Yesterday in rolling terrain, I was constantly hitting power on/power off and it occurred to me that I might be better off minimizing my assist level button and do more shifting. I tend to get...

NPR Radio E-Bike Story as heard on 'Here and Now'

We missed our chance when we had an avid mountain biker in office (GW Bush). I don't think the Donald is too keen on anything outdoors.

    Best dual-suspension trail bike...

I think the general concsensus is that the best class I emtb out there is the Pivot Shuttle at $10,000; but if you are talking best bike for the money, I think Easy Motion Atoms are going to be in the conversation. Maybe because I have one...LOL.
