It's weird. I've read in places that Mahle were making this motor.

This is a great looking bike. As a total package I’d take this over the Amflow/DJI.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

If you want to ride for any length of time or distance it would be better to get used to a sportier position as opposed to an upright position. There is no saddle that feels comfortable after awhile when in an upright position with the majority of your weight resting on your back end. If you're...

You are definitely an XL. I’m 190cm and the XL was perfect.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I was at a very nice Specialized store today and saw several Vado SL2’s. Wow, are they ugly in person. I didn’t like any of the satin colors and the downtubes are just too big looking. They look too much like the full powered Vado, but the full powered model looks a lot better. The original SL...

I was a bit surprised with how I'm getting along with the drops. It's been years since I've ridden them and short test rides just seemed so foreign. Now after a short time, they're very comfortable. They actually feel like a similar position as the 5.0. I don't feel more leaned over and the...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

An update that I’m sure nobody cares about. I talked to the bike shop about my 5.0 that I returned. They also believe something was wrong with the motor. It was a very nice bike otherwise and I guess I didn’t get to experience it as it was designed. However, this may have been a blessing. Since...

I very seriously considered the Grizl ON. It’s a great looking bike, has a nice Bosch system. I’m hesitant because I can’t ride one prior and the geometry seems to be a little different than my preference. And again, I need to see how I like drop bars. So far after a couple short rides on my new...

Perhaps there’s some bias but I’ve owned many e-bikes and have ridden many more. The Tero X is excellent. I actually ride it with the motor off, as well. The furthest I’ve ridden it without assistance was 35 miles. It was a pretty leisurely ride on pretty flat ground with an average speed of...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

The more I consider it, the more I believe there was something not right about the motor. It absolutely felt like it introduced drag while in Eco mode, like it was slightly harder to pedal. That's a shame because I otherwise really liked the bike. If Specialized offers another 50% off deal maybe...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

You guys are making me question my decision 😉 I do wonder if there may have been something wrong with the motor. It made intermittent clicking noises while the motor was engaged. Maybe I wasn't getting the full power of that particular motor. I let the guys at the shop know about it. I would've...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

It comes down to the fact that I would need to keep it Sport mode to perform similar to my Sirrus in terms of effort required, which is due to the difference in weight and relatively low powered motor. Being that I like longer rides the battery would deplete for too soon and while it pedals well...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I ended up returning the SL. It was a very nice bike but just provide enough assistance to justify owning it. I guess I’m of the opinion that if I’m going to have an e-bike it probably should be full power. The SL at just above stock Sport setting seemed to provide enough support to eliminate...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I rode 22 miles today. It was supposed to be a 52 mile road route but I had to abort due to high winds and heavy traffic making for a pretty dangerous ride. I’ve learned that Eco mode is definitely not providing me any benefit, it just doesn’t give me any noticeable assistance. I rode in Sport...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

@Jeremy McCreary I don’t notice any drag with the motor off. What I notice is when I’m riding with the motor off at around 15-17mph and then turning it the motor on in Eco mode. The bike actually feels slightly harder to pedal when I do this. This is the opposite of what usually happens on an...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Yes, I know how to custom tune the motor. The 50/50 is quite good and probably the best setting for my uses. The Eco at 35/35 is ok but still oddly introduces drag when pedaling at around 17mph with the motor off and then turning it on which is the opposite of what usually happens.

I was able to get in some riding today, rain be damned. The ride went well. I did some road riding and climbed a lot of hills, a route I’ve ridden many times with various bikes. I’m starting to get an idea of the real world range capabilities as it pertains to my riding. I currently have around...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I'm well aware of all of this but disagree about not comparing. The purpose of getting the SL was to provide a similar performance to my Sirrus but with added benefit of being able to use the motor on more difficult climbs. The issue I'm having is that in order to have a similar performance to...

On line vs in store returnability is an odd, store dependent thing. I'm not really sure how it works but the guys at my local shop insinuated that if I ordered on line and had it shipped to them they'd still make some profit for the sale. All E-bikes must be shipped to and picked up at a store...
