How / when will yesterday’s tariff ruling affect prices of Ebikes from China?

This was on Micah's Toll's Electrek blog yesterday: The immediate result is that electric bicycles imported to the US from China will no longer be subject to 25% tariffs for the length of the exclusion, which expires in August 2020. The exclusion was originally granted to give importers more...

    Ride1up range per battery charge

I spoke with ride1up customer service a few days ago, and he said there is no way to adjust the number of levels. Not sure who is right here?

    Ride1up range per battery charge

Hello Browneye, sorry, I meant the ride1up 500, not the Aventon 500. (I liked the Aventon, except for the abrupt accel in PAS 1 and the no zero throttle.) The ride1up has 9 assist levels, and I am hoping that an owner can comment on changing to 5 levels and setting the power/speed on each level.

    Ride1up range per battery charge

Can you change the number of assist levels on the 500 from 9 to 5? If so, can you also adjust the power (or speed) for each assist level?

Mini vs Full Size Bike for Seniors?

David, I'm not so sure about saddle height being the predominant factor. I generally have a 33 inch distance from the bottom of my pedal to the top of the seat, for any frame size, or any wheel size. A 20 inch wheel vs a 28.5 inch wheel, will be 4.25 inches closer to the ground. Subjectively, I...

Mini vs Full Size Bike for Seniors?

Wow, I had not heard of the bagibike, but I like that 80nm torque! Maybe we can hook up after the holidays, if the offer still stands, thanks so much.

Mini vs Full Size Bike for Seniors?

Thanks Vincent, very generous of you to offer. We have just moved to Prescott (because Phoenis is too hot ... need to change my name I guess), AZ, which is very hilly. My wife and I both are avid bikers, but have come to hate the hills as we get older, so no doubt we are moving on to e bikes...

Mini vs Full Size Bike for Seniors?

oooh, that hurts! lol, not ready for a trike!!! We've had Dahone foldables for years, when we lived on a our sailboat, and had no problem whatsoever with stability. In fact, our experience with many road, mountain, foldable, hybird and the Dahones, is what prompted my question. We currently...

Mini vs Full Size Bike for Seniors?

Rich, a senior in this case is 75 years old. My balance and strength have noticeably decreased in the last 5 years. Yes, at 67, I was skiing double black diamond and riding aggressive single track, but now, not so much.

Mini vs Full Size Bike for Seniors?

I am wondering if a mini bike (e.g., RadMini, Lectric XP, Juiced Scorpion) would be safer for seniors than a full size bike (RadCity step thru, Aventon 500 step thru, etc). It seems like the 20 inch bikes are more maneuverable, perhaps more flat footable and lower c.g. than the full size bikes.

    Ride1Up 700 Series e-bike

How hard is it to pedal with no assist? Could you get home for 10 miles or so, if you deplete the battery or have an electrical failure?

750 watt vs. 500 watt motor

It's my understanding that all Rad's bikes are actually 500 watts, with peak 750 watt rating. Most sellers report their continuous power, but Rad continues to advertise their peak rating.

Known Issues & Problems with Aventon Products + Help, Solutions, & Fixes

Has anyone heard if Aventon has any future plans to allow throttle from a stop and to reduce the abrupt acceleration to 12 mph in level 1?

Known Issues & Problems with Lectric eBikes Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask, but I am considering the Lectric XP for my wife (5'8") and myself (6'1"). Every video I have seen, it appears that the riders do not get a proper leg extension. Is this bike suitable for 6'1" person. Also, does anyone know what the peak torque is? At...

What are your speculations for 2020 Rad Power Bikes?

I'm thinking the new ride1up 700 may be close to what you (and I) are looking for. Schwalbe Super Moto 27.5x2.4 inch tires, 500 watt (1000 peak ?) geared motor with 53 nm torque. I was a little surprised that it is not higher torque, only 13 nm more than the RadCity, but less than the 80 nm...
