Same for me really regarding the speed. The amount of times I went over 20mph I can count on one hand. It’s simply too scary on a bike at 28mph. edit: also traveling at over 20mph drains the battery lighting quick even if it’s just for 5 minutes.

I got the email too. Those were the stock pedals on my allant8s too. Swapped them them out from day one though.

Ideally you should look for a backup acoustic bike that has a wide range of tire width & size compatibility. Off the top of my head almost every Surly bike fits that bill with many of their bike frames able to handle widths of 1.4-2.8 inches or more and 650b/700c.

I have an allant8s but I would be just as happy with a allant7/7s. It’s easy and cheap to upgrade the drivetrain on any bike so stock component hierarchy between the allant 7,8,9 wasn’t a factor in my purchase. I chose the allant8s because I preferred the solid fork and the colour grey.

As far as I’m concerned after reading and participating in this thread no problems have been revealed with the allants and/or the motors. Their have been complaints and observations (myself included) that there is vibration under specific circumstances that is very likely emitted from the chain...

No offence but I’m starting to think you have an agenda and also I don’t believe you own a trek allant. Unless you can prove me wrong with pics of your allant with a Bosch Gen 4 motor.

Can you post some pictures of the drivetrain side of your allant at different angles? This way we can visually inspect and confirm if anything like the derailleur needs a simple adjustment or if your chain is perhaps too short or not well maintained.

It’s not a problem imo so there’s nothing for trek or Bosch to address.

From my experience with the Gen 4 Bosch speed and feeling the vibration at the pedals intermittently you have nothing to worry about. 2300 miles and no issues.

Finally got the Hurricane tires delivered and had them installed yesterday. Still waiting on the Tubus Tara front low rider rack. Today to break the tires in I completed a 50 mile round trip tour of the local farm lands here. Quite spectacular bike paths and trails here in Belgium.
