    Help with ebike choice

Can’t go wrong with either one. Especially considering both your choices are mid-drives as opposed to inferior hub drives. Both Cube and Trek make great e-bikes. The trek allant 7 low step and Cube Kathmandu hybrid are both excellent and reliable. There are many happy customers on these...

mid drives are not for everyone/throttles are fine

Also, hub drives wear out the drive train components since all of them have too much peak watts 750-1500 which drastically reduces component life span. So even when they do rarely pedal it’s too much power for bicycle components. That’s why I call them mopeds.

mid drives are not for everyone/throttles are fine

Seconded, those are the types of riders I see most too. They think that because their riding what’s marketed as an electric bicycle but with a throttle all traffic regulations don’t apply to them. Throttles have their place but in general it’s for very casual riders who use their e-bikes 250...

Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

There’s 62 towns and villages on the island not including the two main cities. My goal is to visit each one of them by September. Here is the village of Tholopotami.

Cube Kathmandu Hybred 500 one easy step or Trek Allante+7 Low step

Well based on my own opinion overall Gazelle is maybe slightly down market compared to Trek and on par with Cube. I would guess though Cube is marginally better than Gazelle. Gazelle is overshadowed by other more well-known Dutch brands like Koga and Jan Jenssen. Their not trying to move the...

Cube Kathmandu Hybred 500 one easy step or Trek Allante+7 Low step

To be honest you can’t go wrong with either model. Both Cube and Trek are both reputable and reliable companies that produce high quality e-bikes. Although Trek might have the edge in customer service due to their vast network of dealers and is more vertically integrated than Cube.

Trek Allant+ 7S: Slight Vibration Emitting from Bosch Performance Speed motor

You’re welcome. If you go back in my post history about 9-10 months ago I complained about the exact same issue/observation that you have in this thread. I got the same answers that it was chain vibration. 2000 miles later my only complaint is that my headlight gets too warm lol. So no...

Trek Allant+ 7S: Slight Vibration Emitting from Bosch Performance Speed motor

Inth I think William hit it spot on and it’s likely coming from somewhere else and most likely a vibrating chain. I doubt it’s coming from the motor because if the motor were failing it would invariably be accompanied by an unusual and ominous soul crushing noise. You didn’t mention hearing...

Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

I It was, almost all gravel for miles. I aired down the schwalbe hurricanes to the recommended low 23 psi. Makes all the difference and made it a very comfortable and cushioned ride. I can’t recommend the hurricanes enough.

Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

Went riding through the interior of the island for a change today. Was nice smelling the fresh air from the forest instead of the salty, windy air along the coast where I usually ride.

Porsche unveils two e-bikes with EP8 motor

I did some more digging through Google and some articles do mention it. I guess they retooled the frame mounts and used different components such Shimano instead of brose. The business insider article mentions it specifically half way down the article...

Porsche unveils two e-bikes with EP8 motor

They certainly are but I don’t think Porsche deserves all the credit. They seemed to have outsourced the frame production to Rotwild. Not a bad place to outsource if their going to do it though. https://www.rotwild.com/bikes/bikes/cross-mountain/rc750/ultra/

Porsche unveils two e-bikes with EP8 motor

Read this at electrek today. Porsche just unveiled two e-bikes one FS commuter and one FS emtb. Both carbon frames. Nothing really groundbreaking in terms of design but they do look good. As usual electrek still incorrectly thinks the limit for e-bikes in Europe is 25kph. Both of these newly...

    Thoughts on LED spoke lights

I would only say it’s worth it from a safety standpoint to be more visible to vehicles. Other than that aesthetically it’s not my cup of tea nor would I recommend it unless for the aforementioned reason. Weight issues would depend on the led bulbs used but I think it wouldn’t be more than...

Ordered a new Domane HP today

Very good advice and it’s the exact same thing I had my lbs do when I picked up my allant last spring. It needed adjusting because it was protruding more than 3-4 mm at the time and had some vertical/lateral movement. I knew from these forums to have them adjust it from the first day and from...

Stromer motor water ingress then freezing problem

B Very unfortunate , but I did day earlier in the thread that it is due to inherent design flaws in Stromers hub motor. Obviously there are people that disagree with me saying that but your first hand experience proves otherwise unfortunately. I recommend that you immediately take it back to...

Seriously (not subjectively)... Do suspension forks improve safety on Urban ebikes?

Maintenance on suspension forks that aren’t on pure e-mtbs is a nightmare. Their often low quality even on higher end but unreliable brands like Stromer. Quality suspension forks are in the range of $800-$1200. What is fitted in urban e-bikes is generally not good unless the e-bike brand has...

Group Riding with Traditional Gravel Cyclists on E-Bike (dilemmas)

I would choose the Lovelec because let’s face it, perception is reality. Once they see the license plates on the Vado they will automatically assume it’s more of a motorbike than an e-bike. Being that the lovelec looks like a touring bike they’ll assume it’s a typical slower touring e-bike made...
