    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

And that's what makes it a great bike, the power is more of an emergency help, so unlike the "normal" 60 pound ebike you get real exercise, but we seem to be getting real different results here. I can definitely feel level 1 at 100% but it's non-existent at 10%. This is a 250 watt motor. I read...

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

Hi energy 11. No, the down tube battery is not user removable (not impossible but only meant for dealer removal) and the external battery works by recharging the internal battery, it doesn't power the system directly.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

Thanks Zeek. I'll wait until there is some sort of answer. I'm much further than 1.5 hours from a Gain dealer so it would be a real problem if it didn't work. I'm also confused by other members with Gains who have turned their engine power down to 30 or even 10% in level 1 and reported plenty of...

TREK Domane+ 2019, thoughts, price, issue?

Well, I guess it is incredibly "under powered" if the rider is obese and looking for a motorcycle instead of a bike. Let's see, something that weighs at least 55 pounds or more and goes a minimum of 45 miles an hour. Yup, that would be the perfect "bicycle".

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

Thanks Zeek, I really appreciate it. I'll hold off buying one until you find out what's going on. It's hundreds of miles to the nearest dealer and if I have a problem trying to ship a large lithium battery is going to be a nightmare. There's also a part of me that realizes I'm basically lazy...

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

Hi Zeek48, just wondering if they ever found out what was going on with the battery extender? I know this is kind of a dumb theory, but Orbea has so much tied into their app including requiring the dealer to note when a major component is replaced that even though this shouldn't apply to the...

    Ordered my 2020 Vado 4.0

Well in that spirit I do have a question for any Australians on the forum. I got to spend 3 great weeks there last year, loved it, but unless you're in one of the big cities like Sydney or Melbourne the countryside is fairly empty and distances are vast. It would seem to make sense to allow...

    Another Gain review

Aero my Gain also came with all 100% settings, that is the default. The only reason to lower it is to try to extend the battery range which as far as I can tell doesn't help much or if you feel it's putting out too much power, which with a 250 motor in level 1 seems like a stretch. Since it's...

Don't charge your bike battery above 80% and don't ride below 20%. Maybe, maybe not.

The problem with lithium is what it takes to mine it. We used to have a mine in the US, but it got shut down because of the pollution it caused. I really don't want to subject people in foreign countries to this, it may be out of sight but I don't want my hobby to hurt other people.

    Orbea Gain for commuting?

Thanks Jaxx. I think I'll leave mine at 100% too.

Don't charge your bike battery above 80% and don't ride below 20%. Maybe, maybe not.

First world worries. I don't think of myself as an eco Nazi, but I want my batteries to last as long as possible, not because of the cost but because I know that old lithium batteries end up God knows where polluting things to no end. Kind of a by product of our throw it away culture. We can...

    Orbea Gain for commuting?

So a question for other Gain owners. Did lowering the maximum power output in the different levels make any difference in range? I know this sounds like a really dumb question since common sense would tell you that it should, but based on the way hub motors work and their efficiency I'm not...

How heavy is your eBike, and do you care?

Feliz just because Americans are in self-denial about how obese they've become doesn't mean that it's not my business when my health care costs are going through the roof because of their inability to control their food intake. Take a look at these figures...

Known Issues & Problems with Orbea Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Hi CyclingDad. I can't really help you in the sense that I'm in the US so my Gain cuts off power at about 20-21mph, but on the terrain where I ride (which is very flat) I don't notice any drag when I exceed the cut off speed. What I do notice is that the level I'm on when it cuts off makes the...

How heavy is your eBike, and do you care?

AHicks, I know, and I do feel bad for people with weight problems, but since I have no problems telling someone not to smoke in a restaurant (no one talks about smoke shaming) I have to be honest that it does bother me that other people's weight issues cost me money. The average car sold in...

How heavy is your eBike, and do you care?

Interesting answers. I think there's no right or wrong, just how one looks at it, I guess? As I've gotten older I have been amazed at how obese the US population has become. That's not a guess, every single statistic shows the average American weighing more and more. There's talk about...

How heavy is your eBike, and do you care?

Makes sense to me. If you weigh 200 pounds or more it's kind of pointless to save weight on the bike. Most light bikes can't carry super heavy loads and they certainly aren't meant to be loaded down with every single gadget, but to each his own. I'm just happy that some companies are making...

Bosch Speed Performance system shuts down mid ride.

Hi Alaskan, I'm not trying to argue with you or knock Bosch, I own a euro-bike (although I never expect to get much help with it), but trying to point out the disaster that is accepted as so-called support from ebike vendors. As an example, the current Toyota Supra is basically the same as a BMW...

    Bianchi Aria e-road.

Hi DHenryscks. It's a beautiful bike. I have an Orbea Gain which uses the same eBikemotion drive system and I like it a lot. You may want to try looking in some of the EU/UK forums where reviews and postings on light road ebikes are much more common. As you can tell from the posted reviews and...

Bosch Speed Performance system shuts down mid ride.

Hope you all work out your problems but this is a great example of all the people saying that "you get what you pay for". Mega expensive, top tier euro companies and when there's a problem little if any support or real solutions. Kind of like buying a BMW with a straight six, having a problem...
