Any Trekkers using a spare battery to extend your range and hows it working?

Note to self: Filing under novel ways to transport beer via bicycle!

What shoes do you ride with?

@Dallant :. How do you like the OneUp pedals now that you've ridden them for a while? Do they make a big difference compared to the stock Bontrager pedals on the Allant?

Trek Domane +HP Power Usage By the Numbers: Longer Distance Ride

I like the detailed analysis you provide. Nice assessment! One of the nice features of the gen 4 Bosch performance line motors is that there is no perceivable drag when pedaling unpowered. I took a ~ 30 mile ride a couple of weeks ago just for fun without turning on power on my Allant (same...

    Battery Life Span - Supercommuter

Wow...That's pretty impressive mileage you've racked up in less than 3 years! Average of > 11k mi/year or about 900 miles a month! 👍 I need to start riding more!

2020 Allant 9.9S Grinding Noise from motor or is it?

The Allant+7s that I have comes stock with a Bontrager hub. I have no idea if it is the Rapid Drive or another Bontrager model. But zero issues with my Bontrager hubs. The Allant+8s also comes stock with the Bontrager hub.

    Love my Allant+7 BUT...

It doesn't have much to do with class 1 vs class 3, but rather that the Bosch Performance Line (PL) motors found in the Allant models are significantly more powerful than the Bosch Active Line (AL) motors in the Verve models. The PL motors have up to 85 Nm torque and 340% support. The AL motors...

Trek Domane +HP Power Usage By the Numbers: Longer Distance Ride

Correct. Well, close enough...it is actually 482Wh. According to the Bosch battery specs: Rated Capacity: 13.4 Ah Voltage: 36 V 13.4 x 36 = 482.4 Wh

Any Allant+ owners had a system update?

I finally got around to getting my Allant+ 7s updated to the latest Bosch drive unit firmware version (now at 1.1.2.0). I'm liking the updated peak torque to 85Nm when tackling steep hills in Turbo. It also feels a bit sportier all around or quicker engagement when I pedal in any mode (but...

    Allant headlight blinking

The latest version numbers for the drive unit (DU), display, and battery are posted here: The big update that includes the peak torque increase from 75Nm to 85 Nm is DU version greater than or equal to ( >= ) 1.1.0.0. I just got my Allant updated from 1.0.3.0 to 1.1.2.0.

    Trek Powerfly 5 FS 2021

Wow... pretty interesting that those photos show that one can spec it with full fenders, rear rack and kickstand. This could go from singletrack MTB trails to commute with full suspension.

    Allant headlight blinking

The flashing option does not apply to the Allant+ 7 or 7s. The Allant+ 7/7s use a different headlight altogether, the Herrmans MR8, which does not have a flashing mode (according to the specs sheet the only operating mode is 'on'): The Allant+ 8/8s and 9.9s use the Trek Lync lighting system.

OK, Allant owners, what is this stay for?

Yes, those braze-ons are for a cafe lock. I had considered adding one at one point, but ended up going with a different locking strategy. Be aware: the tires and fender on the Allant are pretty large, so you might run into a situation where some (or possibly all??) cafe locks might not work...

    Fun with Racktime Rack

My family has not dined out in a restaurant since February due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, we find ourselves eating takeout meals more frequently now than we had in the past. Since I'm always looking for opportunities to ride my Allant+ 7s, I thought I'd come up with a way to simplify my...

Any Trekkers using a spare battery to extend your range and hows it working?

Hmmmm...I don't mean to come off as cynical, but I'm dubious of this guidance from Trek. If you added a 500Wh Powertube battery without the plastic spacer block and without the RIB handle, how would it lock in place? The locking mechanism engages with the RIB handle section. I could see that...

Trek Alliant +7S *8S vs Specialized Vado 4 or 5

It's not that noisy at all, but it is noisier than the Brose motor on the Vado (which is practically inaudible). The Brose uses a belt drive in the motor interior, which keeps it surprisingly quiet. I would describe it as a noticeable hum at slower speeds rather than noisy. Most of the time I...

Trek Alliant +7S *8S vs Specialized Vado 4 or 5

The Allant and the Vado were on my short list as well. I test rode the Allant 7s and 8s (multiple times) and the Vado 4 (multiple times). All are really great bikes. I don't think you will be disappointed with any of those. The Vado is quieter (virtually silent) than the Allant. I did not like...

    Allant+7 thoughts/review

I haven't weighed it myself yet, but according to Court's review on this EBR site, the battery is 7.1lb with Trek Removable Integrated Battery RIB Shield and Handle. Removing the battery does help a bit with lifting/loading the bike, but be warned that the bike is still fairly heavy without...

    Allant+ 8 for touring

Nice bike! I agree that there are some benefits to the rigid alloy blade fork on the Allant 8. The braze-ons and capability to mount a front rack is a great benefit. I didn't know that koga made an ebike. It is also a nice looking bike. However, two additional benefits I see that would tip the...

How water resistant are the Trek Allant family of ebikes?

I haven't ridden through any creeks on the Allant yet, but I did enjoy a recent 30 minute, 8-mile ride in a substantial driving rain (a heavier downpour than typically encountered in my region). No problems at all other than feeling a bit damp afterwards. Inability to regularly ride in the rain...
