    Allant+7 thoughts/review

I'm climbing mad hills all day on a 7S. It is a bicycle, so you have to time your gear choices and assist levels wisely, but mine's a flippin mountain goat.

Lol, I used to work with him...was a little shocked to read his name. Was also a little shocked when I heard he was gonna go sell ebikes.

    First Ebike - 2022 Trek Allant+ 7S

Totally, but after 2 shops trying and failing, I'm losing faith. And time. It's a 3-4 hour investment to get the bike to a shop & back - plus the time I don't have it. It's not worth it anymore.

    First Ebike - 2022 Trek Allant+ 7S

So this still unnamed steed is starting to show its age a little after a bit over 1700 miles. Despite attempts by 2 shops and the factory, this top bottle boss on the seat tube is an escape artist. I think I'm going to tackle this one myself. Maybe some JB Weld or some other sort of adhesive...

Best method/kit to bleed shimano brakes

Never bothered with any other way with Shimano brakes. It just works. However, if you manage to get a bubble & that won't come out with pumping and flicking the line, you can usually clear it by using a syringe to pump upstream. I remember Seth Alva doing a video using baby oil for brake...

    First Ebike - 2022 Trek Allant+ 7S

So about these new tires I kept expectations low. The narrow made me nervous. Preconceptions of narrow tires bowing to lesser territory and all One thing that's immediately obvious is the girth reduction. I could smuggle drugs in the fenders now. That's yet to be rain-tested, but keeps...

Dork disc... Love it or lose it?

They will eventually loosen up and get rattly. If it has a come apart, those sharp little pieces of plastic go wherever sharp little pieces of plastic go. And they look kinda dorky.

Just found a cracked rim on my allant 8

I don't disagree, but it does raise the cost. I don't think we'll see the industry fully switch to thru axle any time soon.

    Obsession with hydraulic brakes

Reliability, predictability, and power are the big ones with me. Brakes need to be consistent - at least where I live & ride. Descents can be thousands of feet on steep mountain terrain. IME good hydraulics just deliver without any drama. Modulation is good. Heat buildup is minimal...

Just found a cracked rim on my allant 8

Yeah, thru axle on an ebike should be standard.

Just found a cracked rim on my allant 8

You're right - it does. Not much info from Alex, but they do indeed call it tubeless ready. And strange you didn't get all the endcaps. Every wheelset I've ever bought came with all the adapters.

Just found a cracked rim on my allant 8

This is not a tubeless rated rim so I've been told, so running tubeless at 50 might take you outside the comfort zone. Tubed at 50 is a different animal.

How much do the lightest e-bikes weigh?

You can get down around 25 lbs, but it's gonna lighten your wallet around the range of a decent used car.
