BBS02 display with efficiency as wh/km

Despite all the CA3 haters, I LOVE my CA3 despite its big clunky look. It shows me anything I would ever want to see, is easy to configure on the trail (I have only ever just 'skimmed' the manual yet can figure it out during a ride), has a nice big display that works in all lighting situations...

BBS02 display with efficiency as wh/km

Yeah, agree on all the points. I played with the range feature and found it less than reliable. I am getting good at determining voltage vs range but would prefer total wh used Im not sure how accurate much of the data is for 52V (the battery bar indicator is off). I bought mine from Luna...

BBS02 display with efficiency as wh/km

Unfortunately, eggrider is the only solution at this time. I have two but dont like to use them as much due to the unreadable display and small/sticky buttons(the main reason). In addition to wh/km, I also like total wh used. The two allow me to adjust my ride (speed/distance) on the fly to...

    The Experience of a Bicycle

If you go back and read what I was responding to with the 'cancel culture' statement, it wasnt to the person claiming their feelings were not being considered but to someone saying I should consider 'everyones feeling when stating anything' That is an impossible thing to achieve. Assuming my...

    The Experience of a Bicycle

Sounds like an argument for cancel culture Every joke has a victim...thats the definition of a joke Has anyone considered my feelings in this thread. I have suffered from kanayaphobia since a child

Thanks for the pun, I had similar thoughts when I first read what you were punning about. Is EBR being taken over by puritans?

My 1000w motor journey and fear mongering by users of the forum!

As a long time motorcyclist, I have had many similar instances. I have learned to always look for eye contact although thats not always a sure thing. I had a serious motorcycle accident (broken clavicle and femur, in a wheelchair for several months) where I recall the driver looking at me...

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

I would consider a hub motor considerably more complicated with torque arms and all the extra wiring (I am a fan of minimalistic wiring). It does solve the issues of applying alot of torque thru the drivetrain though. Thanks to the advice from m@Robertson, a DT swiss 350 hybrid rear hub, the...

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

I also do not not use a shift sensor, no need as I know how to shift. That being said, I dont shift under load and 1 second seems reasonable especially considering the fact that you most likely are changing more than 1 gear at a time as you zippety zip. Im guessing due to my lifelong cycling...

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

I decided to try some actual data on two identical 52V 30A bikes (except for tires and motor). Bike#1 - GMAC10T(hub drive) with phaserunner and CA3 Bike#2 - BBSHD(mid drive) with hotrod settings from Luna Throttle only test, same battery was used for this test (52V 17AH). Note that the battery...

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

Here is a dual Hub Motor Simulation https://ebikes.ca/tools/simulator.html?bopen=true&motor=GMAC10T&batt=B5213_GA&cont=PR&wheel=29i&mass=140&hp=0&motor_b=9C212_7.5T&batt_b=B5213_GA&cont_b=PR&wheel_b=29i&mass_b=140&hp_b=0&axis=mph&add=true&blue=Lbs Note the acceleration at 5mph Compared to the...

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

Well yes, I did put words in your mouth because you were speaking gibberish. Doesnt mater what actual gears we pick as long as the overall ratio is equivalent. If you pick a 28t front, with an 11 tooth rear, max speed will be 19.3mph. You said 20-25mph...I guess thats close enough but I was...

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

Im not sure what your argument has been, you keep on changing the goalpost. If its that you will win in a 0-10mph dragrace (compared to a single hub motor) with a one speed mid-drive which tops out at 15.2mph, congrats....zip-a-dee-doo-dah. You did actually claim you would beat a dual motor...

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

I can guarantee you that the phaserunner is more powerful than the luna controller. Wow, you have a 52V battery that puts out 58.8V at 25amp. I have a wolf battery as well and it doesnt do that, Did you have to pay extra for that? I thought you stated above "NO SHIFTING", you also claimed if...

SolarCabin? 🤣 ...Im just speculating based on your google skills. That looks to be a BBS02? What Size front sprocket is that? How about the rear? Easy enough to put all the info into the Grin Simulator (which has BBS02 and BBSHD motors)

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

Lots of interesting twists and turns in this thread as well as apples to oranges comparisons so I thought it might be a good time to throw my thoughts in the mix. I have two identical DIY high power ebikes (52V, 30A, 1500w). They are both built off Sulry Ogre Framesets and every component is...

Rear brake disk rotates free, what kind of setup is it? Lockring? Screws?

I have 180mm front/160mm rear rotors on several e-bikes(including some around 1500W) and have probably 10k miles combined...no issues. I brake hard all the time. In fact, I practice maximum braking stops several times a ride, including downhills approaching 40mph.

Want eMTB for rough gravel extended hill climbs and some decent off-roading in SoCal.

Lots of good advice being given here but the biggest issue I see is your budget of $2700ish. For your desired climbing parameters, I dont see any reason why you should consider a hub drive (I have owned a few and still do). Its the last thing I would choose for a 12 mile 2600ft climb...its...
