Finding a few sub $500 downhill bikes to convert and learn from.

Howdy I have been reading and learning about different conversions and have decided to buy a few sub $500 downhill and fat bikes to practice and experiment upon before building a "nice" bike to own and ride. Who on this forum has already done this? Do you have a few tips? I am looking at...

    Rearview Safety Options For Ebikes

I have used these little mirrors for years on bikes. As a direct comparison test, I rode with both mirrors. This motorcycle duel sport mirror is SO real world superior! The little mirror requires a direct and purposeful look in its direction and a moment to orientate your view from the...

    Large duel sport mirror test

I recently installed one of these duel sport motorcycle mirrors as a test of functionality. These style of mirrors are very popular with the duel sport motorcycle crowd that like the functionality and durability of "taking a hit" or of being easily folded down while on rough terrain or...

I have been checking this out too. Tempted to pick one up and give it a try... that torque increase is appealing.

Cadence sensor driven rear hubs.. adding a torque sensor to existing systems?

I read somewhere that regen recovery with general traffic use is only 5-7% with all the associated losses. I do not know if this is accurate, but seems in range. I am interested in this because I would be climbing continuous and fairly steep grades of 1-3 miles. Energy recovery on the...

Cadence sensor driven rear hubs.. adding a torque sensor to existing systems?

Thank you- good input. I was visiting the ebikes.ca / Grin website a few days ago. It would be neat to hear from someone that has converted the Bafang rear hub to torque sensing. Adding the regen capability would be cool too, as I have no intention of riding the machine without some...

E-bike Road safety improvements via motorcycle type mirrors, windshield, lights and horn

Nice find! The socket design looks like they will be movable to an impact without breaking. They also look to have enough height and adjustment for clear view over the arms. I will have to try a set! If they are solid enough, I will try them on the duel sport motorcycles too. Thanks...

E-bike Road safety improvements via motorcycle type mirrors, windshield, lights and horn

Very interesting! Bar taper no doubt complicates things.. off road dirtbikes have very stout aluminum handlebar mount clamps for hand guards... They could be adapted if additional rigidity were needed... Hmmm. Good find

How is purely torque-sensing PAS actually implemented?

Thank you... I was just asking about this very subject. Have you converted a hub motor to a torque sensor already? I converted a mountain bike with the Tongshen kit.. I think the type of assist it offers is excellent compared to the cadence sensor.

Cadence sensor driven rear hubs.. adding a torque sensor to existing systems?

I know that there are newer Bafang systems that now use both sensors, but has anyone modified an existing cadence sensor system to include a torque sensor? I have read here and there about dropout mounted torque sensors. It would be great to modify my existing Rad bike or any other new hub...

E-bike Road safety improvements via motorcycle type mirrors, windshield, lights and horn

Yeah, crashing on stout mirrors or a windshield would really suck alright. They are due an increase in caution for sure. I mount the motorcycle windshields very far forward and at a rear tilting angle. They can still set uncomfortably close to the neck while in a standing position. I have...

Opinions and pointers wanted: Building a super capable fat bike.

Time is such a limiting factor for me. Too many sports and interests to properly focus on a really worthy project such as a frame construction or a true innovative original setup.. I can see creations in my minds eye, like opposing cone variable ratio or fractional HP variable pulley...

E-bike Road safety improvements via motorcycle type mirrors, windshield, lights and horn

I was wondering about moped style mirrors that do a vertical rise from the brake perch area. If they are high enough to clear the forearms they will give great reflective field of vision. I cant find a helmet mirror that lasts. I may try mounting small mirrors off of an installed windshield...
