I finally received the QuikrStuff Mach 2 rack. It works beautifully with the trimmed fender on the Trek.

I use the QuadLock out front mount and a dedicated QuadLock case for my iPhone 14 Pro Max on my Trek Allant+ 8S. Yes, if I fall it “may” get damaged but so will I. Loving it for the couple of months I’ve had it.

The continued evolution of @retiredNH and @Sparky731's idea. :)

I have had an eeSilk+ post on my Trek Allant+ 8S for about three months now. I absolutely love it. I can't feel it bouncing at all but find I can stay in the saddle over bumps that demanded I stand prior. I weigh 180lbs, so being smack dab in the center of the weight (150-210 lbs )...

@Sparky731 @Sefutau2020, OK, you shamed me into strengthening up the mounts. LOL. I re-did everything today using the entire P-Clamp (my initial concept). My issue with that originally was that if I pushed REALLY hard on the rack, it could slide slightly no matter how tight the screws were...

I can’t speak to the clearance required for mounting an MIK accessory but your solution does appear to have a bit more clearance. As far as strength, I’m fairly confident that it should hold the 25 or so pounds that the rack is rated for - I guess time will tell. :)

FYI, I have a neoprene washer between the MIK tabs and the P clamps.

Well I can pick the bike up by the rack so that should be twice the weight it's rated for. :) My original concept was to use slightly smaller 3/8" P-clamps and use the entire clamp so that it would be tight around the bars. Once I started fiddling with it, I realized that using 7/16" Clamps...

@Sparky731 This is what I wound up doing. I used the same Giant MIK rack and mounted it with 1/2 of these Billet Aluminum P-Clamps. I have Topeak MTX/RX bags, so I then mounted Topeak's platform on that. Pretty slick looking IMO. :)

Is that the “Giant MIK compatible rack”? Could you tell me if the vertical mounting tabs line up on center with the Trek’s rack or are they slightly inboard or outboard? Thinking of an alternate mounting system. Thx

Maybe I’m not as picky (well I really am 🤣 ) but the only thing I don’t like about the Cobi.bike system on the Allant+ 8S is the junk phone mount. Mine broke a couple of weeks in. I removed the mount, keeping the display and added a QuadLock Out Front mount for my iPhone. Perfect now.

That would work but you'd also have to replace the rear fender and the taillight.

Still can't figure it out. Most times it doesn't flash, just hi or low steady. Sometimes it flashes on low. It does not seem to be related to ambient light. Remains an annoying mystery.

I did a similar mod to the rear fender on my Trek Allant+ 8S. I have a Quikrstuff Mach 2 rack on order and I knew I wasn't going to be happy cinching it down on the fender (with or without cushioning). Even though technically I could position the spool on the rear tire above the wheel centerline...
